Day 2 Elliptical & Tabata
Hey Steemians! For my second day of working out & blogging about it, I decided to switch it up a little bit. My main concern is weightloss, and in order to lose weight, you have to have a caloric deficit. I think the easiest way (in terms of effort) to achieve that is to restrict your intake, but I'm not too good at it. Another way is through exercise and extended periods of cardio is probably one of the most effective means to exercise off excess calories.
Cardio has one major drawback for me; it's boring as fuck. I mean, I can jam out to music, and that helps the time pass by, but the exercise itself is not fun for me at all. So I try to do things to spice it up every now and then. Last night, I tried to make the best of both worlds.
I started off the workout by burning 500 calories on the elliptical. I am going to try to set this as the minimum for myself. If I stay neutral on my intake, this should allow me to lose approximately 1 pound a week. Anything I burn on other exercises or any intake restriction is a bonus.
After finishing that part, I decided to do some Tabata workouts. Tabata is a type of high intensity interval training in which you work at a high intensity for 20 seconds and rest for 10 seconds. This can be done for many different types of exercises. I do them in 8 round intervalsfor a total of 4 minutes per session. I did 5 Tabata sessions including various exercises such as pullups, pushups, situps, jump rope, and rowing machine. I did several iterations of all of these exercises in order to get the rounds in. I'll you one thing, that 10 second rest goes by really quick.
Of all of those exercises, I felt the rowing machine the most. I ended up with exactly 800 meters. Keep in mind that when you stop on the rowing machine, you keep gaining distance, similar to how you would in a boat. Whatever the case, I was beat, afterwards.
Well, that's it for today, let me see what I can think up tonight!
