Statue Friday
Today is #Statuefriday for the #sevendaysoutside challenge by the lovely @erikah
Discovered on the Greek island of Melos in 1820, the Venus de Milo was purchased and presented to Louis XVIII, who donated it to the Louvre, where I took this photo of her on a trip to Paris several years ago.
Sculpted in approximately 100 BC, the goddess is mysterious and well known for her missing arms.. The missing pieces make identification of the statue difficult. If it was known what she had been holding in her hands it would have given more clues as to which goddess she represents. She was most likely colorfully painted and the anchor holes still remain for the jewelry she was once wearing. It was a privilege to see her!
To participate in this challenge;
These are the days and the categories:
#WindowMonday – Windows
#DoorTuesday – Doors
#RustArtWednesday – Rust
#GateThursday – Gates
#StatueFriday – Statues
#BrickSaturday – Bricks (bricks only, no pavement elements or cobblestones please)
#StreetlampSunday – Street Lamps
Make sure you write a description of the photo you are posting. Share as much details as you can, like where that statue is placed (in a park, at a museum), what it represents etc. Make it enjoyable.

Goes without saying that you can only use your own photos. No paintings, no drawings, no digital art please! There is no prize here, this is just for fun.
