Ah, those would be some grand memories, of the farm and growing up. Though it's now gone, it is so nice to have those to think back to. And that is so cool that the land was turned to a long-term use, and the family and your kids/grand kids are a part of it. The birds and other creatures need all of that beyond asphalt they can get.
As for the trees, it is amazing how fast they grow. As that one saying goes, "you're not old, the trees, they just grow and grow". Thanks for sharing a bit of familial history, and some really nice areas of your corner of things. Cheers on a Tuesday night.

It took me a few minutes to even recognize those trees as the ones I had planted! The barn and the cattle sheds and the hog house are gone. No sign of the chicken coop. But the silos remain and the machine shed. And the house is still there, although it has not been painted since I painted it in the late 70's. My son was 6 when we moved from there, but he had a few memories that he was reminiscing about, too.

Thanks, dear Pix!

This is so cool @melinda010100 to have your name on a wetlands
your kids look like wonderful people

My Mother was always planting trees. the one in our front yard now my husband planted..

That is my son and grandson. Definitely some of my favorite people on earth! I planted some apple trees there, too and I am always tempted to go pick an apple in the fall. I could try explaining to the people who live there that they really are my apples, right? 🤔

I think you should tell them to pay you for the apples. lol

Whooaaaah! All of the images are breathttaking. I am loving it..with smiling faces look cool

Have a wonderful day..!!

Thanks so much!

Wow. Nice to see some more wetlands, though. Here in Minnesota, we have special license plates that you can buy to support wetland restoration projects. They cost a bit more, but they have nice decorations. I had a pheasant one before but, when I traded for the Jeep, it had a chickadee. So, chickadee it is!

It's amazing how fast pines grow, though, isn't it? I remember visiting my grandparents' farm in the Michigan's UP, where the pines planted along he driveway were enormous. Of course, I was pretty short, back then, so maybe everything was bigger...

It's nice that there's a trail through there, so you can get back to visit the area more easily. It must seem odd to see it as a wetland, though.

Memories of the time when the children were small, and we were young, always pleasant and a little sad ...

You understand exactly how I felt. Thank you!

Hi Mel, I just found this little gem thanks to @tipu

I must say first and foremost. Well done you, for having the foresight to know that we are just custodians of the land and must cherish it.

I can see know why my Beatrix post resonated with you. You share a lot of characteristics with Beatrix.

You have helped to create a place for wild things to thrive.

So cool for your family to know what you did all this years ago before it was 'a thing'.

This is going to the growing @steemimages community.

Well done. Inspirational work has it's own rewards.

What wonderfully nice things to say, Michael! I'm totally honored to be compared to Beatrice Potter. And I do appreciate you resteeming this into @steemimages

My pleasure as always Mel. You and Beatrix have the right dea.

Ha. I knew when I wrote that I was spelling her name wrong, but then I forgot to go back and find the correct way to spell it!

Howdy Melinda! that is wonderful and those trees really did well didn't they? That path looks really nice too, so does the sign and the kids!

Best kids ever! They are coming to spend the weekend and help me get the deck ready for summer.

oh yay! That is always wonderful news when they come to visit. What needs to be done on the deck?

Good morning! So, you are on your own all week! I need the planters on the deck filled with dirt and all of the flowers planted, and the back porch needs all the winter grime removed. Two walls are screen. My daughter-in-law loves taking care of choosing and planting the flowers.

oh well that's a perfect fit if she loves planting. Yeah, the deck and porch and things outside get trashed with such long winters and all that snow and moisture. I'm assuming you have a lot of plant pots? lol.

I do. Heiping get the deck looking lovely for summer was Jim's favorite outdoor chore and he loved buying new pots to plant with flowers. My d-i-l loves gardening, and she doesn't get much opportunity on the 4th floor in Chicago. vi8cvv8kkp.jpg

haha! oh this is too perfect for everyone involved then! What a blessing.
Oh, and all the flowers and plants look gorgeous!
