After Midnight - 5 Minute Freewrite

Freewrites are unedited and whatever comes to mind. Sometimes, they are great, and sometimes, they don't make sense.

You know what they say. After midnight, the tough and the brave are still at it. That is when the party really starts. The good girls and the boys who have no stamina went home. But we, those who know how to party, we are now just starting to wake up. Let’s go. Let’s go somewhere else. Somewhere where we are not supposed to be after midnight. Driving by sleeping villages. Too fast. As always. We are all bit drunk. But we know that nothing can happen to us ever!1

Here is the dark lake. It is cold outside. Almost winter. The water is really cold. But we said we are going to swim. Back in the warm bar. Beer or wine or whiskey in hand. “let’s go swimming!!” Why, none of us remember. But here we are. Out in the middle of nowhere.

Suddenly, everyone has changed their mind. Weak. If we said we go swimming - by gosh - we will swim.

I am the only one, standing naked at the edge of the water. Everyone else is back in the cars where it is warm. But I jump in.
