The city of Uyo is the most developed town in AkwaIbom State, it is closely followed by Ikot Ekpene, Eket, Oron, Abak and Etinan. In this post, I will be taking you round some key places in Uyo the capital of AkwaIbom State. and we will visit some iconic places to help you know my town.
Meet the people of my town, the Ibibio people. A people with a tradition that encourages hospitality and with the rate of development, my town will soon become an attraction to all who visits Nigeria.

[ 1 ] Ibom Plaza

In my town, a very large section at the center of the town is called plaza. It is the center of buzzling commercial activities, one of the few spots in my town that never sleeps. Some years ago, all the five major roads in Uyo diverged from the center of the town known as Ibom connection. To control the traffic situation at plaza, Abak Road and Aka Road have been diverted away from the plaza using a crescent. The whole plaza is filled with traders, shops, malls and phone repairs technicians. Be very conscious of your belongings when walking or driving across plaza.

[ 7 ] Akpoho Cercus

The Akpoho Cercus is the roundabout where Nwaniba Road splits out of Oron Road. This place is iconic because it immortalize one of our traditional currency known as Akpoho as you can see some sculpture of the Akpoho hanging at the top of the roundabout. This shot cought my attention as it captured the moment a bicycle was making a turn at the roundabout. Such currency was long replaced by coins and paper money.

Transportation is mostly manages by private individuals but regulated by the government. All transportation vehicles must have the state colour and an identification number known as MOT
