#ULOG Journal 7|The Wedding

Wedding bells are ringing. The birds are singing, chanting their favorite rhythm. Everyone is busy. Everyone is cheering but only two people are the happiest on this day.

Hi there, everyone. I am back for my ulog journal.

I apologize for not updating on here for too long. I have been away for days because I was invited by my friend to attend her wedding day. My friend lives in Tangub City, Philippines and I live quite near her city so I traveled to get there by bus. From my town, it took me almost 2 hours to get to Ozamis City and from Ozamis City bus terminal, I arrived at Tangub City 30 minutes of travel. It was my first time visiting Tangub City although it's popular because of the Christmas lightning every December, I haven't visited the city once before.

When I arrived at the bus terminal in Tangub City, I was told to wait for Chelle's brother, that's my friend's name, because he was going to pick me up. After some minutes of waiting, her aunt and brother arrived and we said our "hello's" and then I hopped onto the motorcycle. I was greeted by Chelle's relatives and immediate family. Definitely, she has quite a lot of family. They were busy doing things. Some were preparing some desserts for the next day's event. Some were preparing the meat they're going to use for the event.

Chelle and I caught up because we haven't talked for a long time. Albeit, we two are close but we aren't the type of people who update each other about small things and she is always busy having to always talk communicate with her boyfriend, husband now, since he works abroad. And I do understand that. Chelle and I would talk about a lot of things, even about work.

She was busy that day. She had to settle everything for the event the next day. I was left alone and I tried to help her family with the preparation. I was also waiting for Miss Ann and Sir Dennis to arrive who were attending to Chelle's wedding as well. I was so happy and thrilled when I saw them. We hugged and talked for awhile. After a while, Miss Ann and I both worked in the kitchen. She was dicing the cheese and I was dicing the gulaman. We also talked while working. That's what we always did before when I was still working in the company and I missed that.

The evening arrived, Chelle decided to go to the hotel where we would be staying before the wedding. We needed to stay in the hotel for the preparation of the make-up, gowns, and other stuff. The husband of Chelle's cousin drove us to the hotel. When we arrived, Chelle toured us to our room and theirs. After a while, we remembered that we saw something on the road and we thought to go there so we got prepared and immediately went out of the hotel. Since the place was just near, we just walked to get there. I saw kids playing even in the evening. It wasn't as lively as in larger cities but there were still people outside, unlike in my town. we unexpectedly witness the live band. They were singing the old songs and everyone liked them. At first, we didn't know that there was a band but when we got there, we realize that there were boys singing an old English song. They were all wearing white suits. There were few people there but they were all looking like they were having fun.

When it was done, we decided to head to the hotel to rest because we need to wake up for the next day since Sir Dennis would be the one to take pictures for Chelle's wedding. He needed to take all the things that needed to be taken. We went to bed around 9 PM and I can't usually sleep at that time but that day was an exception. I dozed off right away. I felt tired that night. Though, I don't really like sleeping with other houses or hotels because I can't sleep comfortably and straight. I always wake up a lot of time and that happened to me during that time, especially I felt that the air in the room was getting warmer. Later, I found out that Miss Ann turned the air conditioner to fan. We were supposed to wake up at 4 AM and I thought that was too early but we all woke up at 6 AM instead.

The makeup artists were starting to do their job. Some bridesmaids were already made up however Chelle wasn't yet. She was busily talking on the phone and was looking irate on her parents because they stubbornly told her that they wouldn't go to the hotel instead they would prepare themselves at home. She was furious, I tried to calm her down. She easily gets calm whenever she gets angry.

When everyone was almost done, Miss Ann, Sir Dennis and I got ready ourselves. When we were done taking baths. Miss Ann and I had our makeups done and wore our dresses. We helped Chelle dress up her wedding gown that was a bit heavy. We thought it wouldn't fit because it looks small on the mannequin but it actually fits her. The criss-cross at the back could be adjusted. It took us some time to maneuver the back of her dress. We tried to pull everything right and made it look good. Finally, after some adjustment and pulling, we made it. Everyone then prepared themselves on the stairs for the picture taking. I just thought the lighting wasn't so good. It was dim but they still continued because we didn't have enough time.

Around 9:30, we got ourselves ready because the wedding should start at 10 AM. When we arrived at the church, the musician wasn't ready yet and the priest wasn't there as well. We were worried about it. The clock hit 10 AM and wedding started, luckily the priest arrived on time. It was a solemn and smooth wedding. I don't always go to wedding ceremonies and I thought it's just short but it definitely was not. I was sleepy while listening to the sermon and I apologize for that. When the priest said "You can now kiss the bride.", I felt relieved because I didn't have to sermon myself for not concentrating.

Right after the wedding pictorial, we went to the function hall where the wedding reception was. The MC was good in delivering his part and made the reception program alive and fun. He was able to pull the 2 hours reception party really well. Though, he was quite expensive, worth 3,000 PHP (60 USD) for the whole 2 hours. The reception area was decorated really well. It was made so well and I learned from Chelle that they spent thousands for the function hall decoration and I did think so. The way the decoration was decorated on the stage and on the other parts of the room, it was really expensive. I applaud Chelle's husband for spending that much for her. He was the one who spent most on this wedding.

I could see how happy they were and I was happy for the two. I am very happy for Chelle. I know how she wished and prayed to have the right man for her. She wished this man for the longest time. She's an outgoing woman but I never heard her talking about boys before she met this man. And now that they decided to be one and get settled, I support these two. I am the happiest friend ever. I'm envious because she got married before me. Basically, I am older than her yet I'm not in a relationship. Well, that would eventually come. Hahaha
