The sun will always rise again
The sun will always rise again!
This however does not always feel possible in life.

We experienced a severe storm recently with high speed wind and flash flooding all over Durban. Sadly some lives were lost, homes flooded, roads washed away and chaos reigned everywhere, a stark reminder of the power of nature, and just how powerless we become when faced with this kind of deluge!
Fortunately the only damage we suffered here at Lily’s Cottage, was a lightning strike which fried our router. I walked around the house as if my hands were cut off, and my mobile data usage hit an all time high ;) Not looking forward to that bill :(
However, that was nothing compared to the loss others suffered.
This morning the sun came out and as I was walking through my garden, I once again marveled at how the plants look so amazing despite the battering they had last week.
The butterflies were happily fluttering about.
The birds and the monkeys were out in full force, feasting on papayas, wild plums and tiny fruit from the pigeonwood tree.
A lone monkey not wanting to share his bounty
Yellow Weaver Finches picking at bird seed scattered on the grass.
A funny looking lizard sunning itself on one of our shrubs, sticking its’ head out as if praying to the sun.
Amazing that following all the destruction, we now have new life with flowers blooming everywhere.
We can make a comparison with our lives; no matter how hard a blow life deals us, the sun will also shine on us again.
We get battered by life, feel that we’re going to break down, but somehow we find that inner strength and we carry on.
So take a deep breath, focus on the now, not the yesterday, not the tomorrows, just the here and now.
Smell the roses they say; in this instance, the season's first Gardenia blossom with the sweetest aroma.
Take a walk, look around, and you will see the little miracles all around.
Ranunculus peeping out between the herbs.
Perhaps it is someone’s smile, another person reaching out to lend a helping hand to another, or something in nature, whatever it may be, look for the little things.
We often have to face storms in life, feel helpless and think it will never pass, but it does, and it makes us stronger.
Don’t be swept away by the storms of life, just keep on swimming, look at life with new eyes and be thankful, and in doing so, your sun will rise and shine again :)
