Chasing Mountaintop Chickens in Acapulco: The Photo Story
There have definitely been some chicken shenanigans these past few days, and I just shared the details in my last post. Here are all the photos of the enclosure and the areas where we chased the chickens around, for anyone interested in seeing what we were dealing with. This is just a shot of the enclosure from below.
Currently housing 3 out of 4 of our adult chickens. We have another enclosure with just one chicken, Fro my antisocial girl.
The one missing kind of looks like the other black one that's honestly hard to see, just with a copper head.
This is the rabbit enclosure where we trapped the chicken behind it, only for it to jump up higher towards the compost pile.
This is a wide shot of the jungle cavern they keep disappearing down, complete with the Flor de Mayo tree I broke in the process of this whole thing. With wood and ducktape, I may have saved it's life. We shall see!
We use rocks and logs to reinforce the edges. Chickens can dig holes, be warned.
For some reason the chickens want the dark scary jungle.
The path to the hole they keep jumping into. Actually its more like a small cliff surrounded by jungle and less like a hole.
It's hard to see but theres a several food drop that I won't even go down into, but the chickens keep doing it.
Another view of that enclosure
I need to weed my garden, eh?
Part of the chickens path, it kept it nicely concealed from view.
The compost area it ran through.
This is the path the black and white spotted one took, which eventually led to it's capture.
So I went up over the boulders...
Tossed a rock to determine it's exact location and used those rocks as stepping stones to get to it.
It kept getting stuck in this fence, which made it so I could catch it.
This was the main path I was taking in my chicken chasing ventures.
Down the hillside and around the boulder to start the madness!
Where it gets lush at the top of the photo is where they would fly to.
A partially cleared area from me trying to apprehend a chicken. the struggle is real.
Thanks for following and supporting, until next time!
All Photos were taken with my Nikon D5500 with standard AF-P 18-55mm lens.
I know you're famous!!! They made a movie about you and your chickens
Haha - the never-ending battle of wits between man and chicken :D
The environment is so natural and beautiful..will like to visit
I can see why they would want out, though -- there's so much to explore out there, and space to run around like a chicken! ; ) Watch out with all that rough ground, chasing those adventurous birds!
Thanks for sharing. That must be an amazing place to live. :)
