Blue Screens! Imprinted by LightCaptured

in WORLD OF XPILARyesterday

I haven't been affected that much by the IT Breakdown, caused by Microsoft and their security software subcontractor.

AI have heard the stories of many people stuck at the airports, of even worse, being in surgery during the crisis.

A friend of mine had a flight back hoe abroad literally minutes before the shitstorm, ooops, pardon me, the breakdown happened.

Or have I been affected much?

How is "that much" though?

In the last three days I had the so called "blue screens of death" three times.

That's so far, fingers crossed it doesn't happen again.

Today however, I was unloading a big batch of photographs for one of the stock agencies, for the second time, when my computer restarted.

Once it came back on, I had to spend about three hours to apply all the Windows updates.

Then, I had to spend another hour to manually clean up the mess from the previous abrupted upload, as the agency doesn't have a tool to automatically remove any duplicates.

So, that's at least four (4) HOURS!!!

Of course, that doesn't compare at all to being stuck at an airport for a day.

Now, dear Microsoft...

I've been considering to switch to the latest Ubuntu release but there is one big show stopper for me and that is the lack of Linux distributions of Adobe Lightroom Classic and Adobe Photoshop.

I've been paying subscriptions to those two for several years now and I believe they are probably being paid by Microsoft to not have Linux versions. These Adobe products run only on Windows and iOS.

I guess a time will come when I will just cancel my Adobe Creative Cloud Photography subscription and move to an open source software that would run on all OS...

Now, a question - do you use any open source photographic software, similar to Adobe Lightroom Classic?

Please share you thoughts and experience with me! :)

Now these aren't really blue screens but there is plenty of natural blue color, right :)

Just some interesting details shots from the most famous glacier lake in Southern Iceland.
