Landscape Photography Challenge: Upper Tampa Bay
On a recent fishing trip with my brother we decided to fish in the welcome shade under the Gandy Bridge for mangrove snapper. After catching a few undersized fish, we pulled anchor to head a bit further north in the bay towards one of my favorite flats in the area for reds and trout.
As I idled over the flat looking for signs of bait clusters or small schools of fish, I just happened to snap this pic at the right time to make it seem as if these two boats are in an intense tug of war...lol!
After fishing the flat and a few nearby holes for an hour or so, it seemed the bite had died after the tide slowed and went slack. So I decided to jump out of the boat and wade around in knee-deep water looking for a few shots to take of the wildlife all around me (mostly birds). I was able to sneak up quietly enough to this snowy egret and ibis to snap a somewhat decent shot before they flew away.
Thanks for stopping by!

Nice photos, especially that last one with the birds. It seems funny to hear about a "snowy" anything down there in FL. I guess that's a literal "snow bird," unline the figurative ones (retirees) who spend their winters down there.
On the other hand, I did find an alligator turtle up here in Minnesota, once. Damn near took my nose off. I didn't know they could jump like that! We're at the edge of their natural range.
ah ha, touche. those suckers are dangerous for sure! The name snowy comes from when the wind blows the extremely light feathers on their neck up. Guess it looks a bit like it's being snowed on or something...not the best example but fist pic I found in my folders that 'sorta' showed it
They are pretty. It does look a bit like snow, or maybe an albino mullet... Lol
'snowbird' is a bad word down here too...lol
@liberty-minded enjoy the fishing and enjoy nature!
always do, thanks @mnidkyfc!
