Imperfectly human.
Taking into account that we are imperfectly human, incomprehensible many times and therefore it can be said that we can want many things but it seems that something is always missing, hence the question, What do people want? I would change it to What do I need to achieve? I think in the first place that yes, recognition is always important but if we talk about secrets to treating people my personal philosophy is: "Treat people as you would like them to treat you" because to that extent I think that if you give a good deal is what you will receive in return.

Yes, the author in this book lists in summary what people want to achieve, I differ only in that as each of us think differently and our priorities are not always in the same order about what we want, being healthy is what I want to be always healthy, because I think that with having health the rest can be achieved for me to grow, learn more every day and have peace of mind means a lot like sleeping with a clear conscience, that my work is rewarded with justice and equity and now that I have daughters I wish with all my strength that nothing ever happens to them.
From the optics.
In relation to the praises that the text emphasizes a lot, that in a high percentage people need it to feel full; Well, I think that everything depends on how you look at it and how much you are hurt or affected in life by the fact that you are not congratulated. However, I think that at some point it is necessary to make people feel that their work is worth a lot and that it is very important to be regrettable that today many bosses do not pay attention to it because they forget that people can be motivated not only by monetary compensation but also by "you did well, I congratulate you".
Feeling important.
Treating people without prejudice or distinction should be a motto of life, say hello and say good morning to everyone and not classify people, just being nice doesn't cost anything. It may be that the number of people who flatter is large to be taken into account in that desire to feel important and there are others who like to be flattered. It is better to have a sincere greeting that shows that there is appreciation, that people refer to you as someone who does not treat you with the tip of the foot because on all the roads where one passes you should leave traces, being an example at some point for others, It does make a big change to appreciate what others do, not to miss an achievement of our children or those of the other people around us, whether in the work or social environment.
So, the secret is to treat people well with respect and recognition.

Este tema es muy bonito, puede parecer que hasta algo de pura lógica, pero no lo es. Muy a menudo se encuentran situaciones de discordia debido a la falta de empatia, al autoritarismo, al egoismo.
Pienso que es algo que debemos enseñar a nuestro hijos desde pequeños para que sean adultos con buenas habilidades para establecer relaciones familiares, educativas, laborales e incluso ramánticas.

I actually disagree with this philosophy. The thing is that I'm very strict towards myself. I tend to punish myself whenever I do not achieve goals, when I'm unhappy with my own performance. Or when I do not keep word given to someone. My expectations towards myself are very high and ...
well, I've learned that treating others the way I would like them to treat me isn't usually working well. Usually we need to figure out, how people want to be treated and then try to give it to them.
After all - it's important to understand other people needs and ways of thinking. And what would satisfy us, may not satisfy them. Hope I'm making sense?
Just an example: my wife cares about being loved, she doesn't like to be alone, she doesn't mind spending time doing nothing (wasting time) as long as we're doing it together.
I on the other hand value piece of mind above all and I'm always stressed when I have impression that I'm wasting time.
Would I treat her the way I would like to be treated - then our marriage would collapse very fast :P

I understand your point, in fact my approach is also based on the differences that we all have and how we can face things.
However, I am also aware that treating people in the same way as I like to be treated will not always work out and I do not expect to receive the same treatment.
however continue to treat people well in a polite way and with great respect.
It's all about keeping things in context. Thanking / congratulating not just the person but the person in relationship to what they accomplished keeps it in perspective. This is especially important for children. Not just saying "I'm so proud of you." But something like "I'm so proud of you for sticking with that task today. I know it was challenging but I'm proud of you for sticking with it."
