April Fools and Fake News: Being Fooled Goes Beyond April Fools Day

in #fakenews6 years ago (edited)

I was quickly going through my Facebook feed, and saw a few stories that made big claims. I was like "oh, really?"...

Again, I forgot it was April Fools.

Well, after I started to read the posts and trying to verify the info, I quickly realized I was being had, pranked and fooled.

This is something that happens to people each day of the year when it isn't April Fools. We read something, don't look into it, and accept it as is.

We need to be careful with what we read and take as 'real' each day of the year.

Eternal vigilance, be on alert, think critically. There are always opportunities to be fooled.

Thank you for your time and attention. Peace.

The danger is when the news is confirming my bias, I want to believe it so i'm tempted to not investigate and perpetuate the "fake news". @ironshield

Yes, there are people who manipulate the news with content that are not real and tend to deceive the crowd with their false news .. the easiest to be deceived are people with low coefficiency who only read and believe the news ..
and they do not do an analysis to see if the news is real.

Sadly news has turned into propaganda to market the sheeple of the world. People have forgotten how to think. They have become lazy and apathetic. Thanks. Krnel

Unfortunately, this is very true. It means all the garbage being published everywhere on the internet and in social media and on television is being accepted as true by the average person. This means the average person's concept of reality is degrading. We will look back in 10 years and be horrified at the effects of this on society and the world.

I've been fooled a few times today, too. It's been kind of fun. :)

I think I missed April fools :D haven't noticed any of those fake news. But then I also don't watch the news. I don't want all of the negativity in my life.
I try to focus on what I can do to contribute with positivity instead.
And it is as you say so important to see through the matrix and try to be critical to what you see and hear.

I limit how much news I watch too -- for the same reason; to try and reduce the negativity in my life.
So, I haven't been subject to too many jokes but I do know plenty of fools. LOL

Haha, I think it's one of those things that have had a huge positive impact on my life.
And I do agree about knowing plenty of fools :D

The one that I saw passed around today was Tumblr coin. LOL

This is very true @krnel. Thanks for reminding us.

The speed of light has been broken.
The speed of light is not the ultimate speed.
And Einstein was a phoney.

It is also Easter today. No joke.

You mean Ishtra.

Of course. You can read my blog today about what i feel about it.
