Retrodoll, Brittney!

Hiya, Steemit! I’m sitting at @caffetto on the warmest Minnesota day of the entire winter thus far. I haven’t been able to help thinking of the cold, endless Minnesota winter as a metaphor for the crypto-bear-market. Let’s hope there’s a market thaw this week as well. I’m trying to mitigate what feels like impending stress today. Both of my car headlights are burnt out. I’m not a particularly handy guy with cars, but @treigh-c and a few others at @caffetto, are. I’m gong to see if I can get some tools and assistance from the @caffetto family. On the bright side, looks like I’ll have a few deposits tonight and @wcpublishing just emailed me with my Q4 Dark Pinup royalties!

I’m still working on finishing up my last few Viva Las Vegas clients. I’ve made some great strides during these weeks leading up to the New Year. I’m over the pain that I didn’t make my own deadlines, but finishing what I owe for these few girls is encouraging me to push through it all. One of the most patient clients of all has been my darling friend, Brittney. She booked a shoot during Viva Las Vegas a year early, so there was plenty of time for us to get to know each other and anticipate our collaboration. Over those months leading up to Viva, I followed her shoots and modeling on Instagram, and was so excited about this opportunity.

Meeting Brittney, she bought such a calming energy to my chaotic two week trip. I always visit LA the week before. I shoot there, this particular year a few creatively demanding projects like the La Femme En Noir look book, and then make my way to Vegas for another crushing shoot week schedule. Brittney was on time for a very early morning. I was exhausted because the Dark Pinup book release party was the previous night. Normally, I’d be dying, but something about Brittney’s attitude lifted me. I felt confident in my ability as an artist […which happens far less often than you’d think].

Brittney and I began shooting in my hotel room at The Artisan. It’s one of my favorite locations in Vegas to shoot. There’s endless possibilities from the unique halls covered in antique frames and print reproductions of painting from the great master painters, to the ornate gold and wood furniture in the lobby. Each hotel room is themed after a classic artist. Brittney was a beautiful muse for my style of dark pinup, using a combination of cool, bluish window light and the warm lamps on the desks. I loved capturing a strong, femme fatale side of her; so different from most of her modeling work.

I have a busy weekend ahead of me. I’m leaving for Seattle in about 10 days and I haven’t even booked my flight yet. I have a lot of travel to work out, places to stay and places to shoot, rental cars […if I’ll even need one], and so one. I also have a lot of editing to finish up this weekend and next week. Stay with me for the new work as I’m hoping to finish the last of my Viva Las Vegas clients. Thanks for reading, Steemit friends! Awesome post like always

Always appreciate your support @dobartim!

The photos in the artisan are incredible, I remember great sessions there!
You will have very busy days, I think the best thing you can do is try to take it easy, do not do anything hasty so that it does not take any trouble to do something and give you bad times.
Happy journey!

True, @yanes94! I shoot there often. It's one of my favorite places in Vegas and I've developed a good relationship with the management. They kind of give me free rein of the place.

Yes, the pictures of the craftsman are great.
Maybe because you are a good client and they know that you are a professional, over the years they trust you.

Xo friend! I know you’ll never be without, let the royalties roll in!
And good luck with your headlights ☺️

Thank you @artedellavita! Headlights are repaired. I had the help of a friend. I even changed the wipers myself so I'm feeling pretty butch right now.

Pretty damn sexy haha
Hugs!

Beutiful woman, her retro style suits very well

She is! I loved shooting with her, and she's as kind as she is lovely.

"Brittney was a beautiful muse for my style of dark pinup"

Indeed she is.

Oh my just hearing about the cold long winters and your car problems, brings me back to a time and a place. I dipped out on that scene a long time ago, after all I grew up in the North East; Albany New York. With family down in Florida I recall asking my folks, when we can move to warmer climate; the answer turned out to be you can move yourself when you're old enough. Looks like I just never stopped moving! haha

Besides seeing your grade A photography and lovely ladies you shoot, I also wanted stop by and thank you for thinking of me with your generous up-votes. Being an Ameture photographer, straight from my "phone"; you my friend, are an inspiration!

Thank you!

HA! Yeah, @world-travel-pro, I grew up in Scranton, PA. Minnesota is definitely worse as far as cold, but the east coast gets Noreasters, which are basically winter hurricanes. I'm sure you're familiar if you're from Albany. I don't mind the cold. I prefer it over heat and humidity. January and February tend to be the months that really try your endurance, and menial tasks like changing car headlights can really be punishing.

No problem on the support, man. I love seeing you stay active and posting regularly during this downturn. We need more like you.

Oh wow! Hey man, thank you so much for the kind words. This down turn has been so discouraging but I'm doing my best to stay positive and keep my material coming out at a decent standard. My motivation is well....I was telling people that my "job" was a travel blogger....but I now I tell them it's my hobby, and I'm ok with that. But even as a hobby, it's still paying something, but yeah, this downturn has been friggen brutal for so many including myself. So ofcourse thanks you for the support.

Yes, my favorite time int he the winter in the northeast, were snowdays compliments of those noreasters. It was so much fun waking up, and seeing that my school was closed then going out and playing all day with my friends in the snow. Those were the best. Now that I'm all grown up, it's the tropics for me. Thailand is a winter time gem! Wishing you and your family the very best! -Dan
