Today's pick in the Daily Anime Pick-Series where I pick one anime each day that I think is worth watching is Psycho-Pass!

The series takes place in the 22nd-century in Japan. The human's mind has been deciphered and personality as well as criminal potential can be quantified. The criminal potential of a human's soul is commonly referred to as its Psycho-Pass. The streets are filled with scanners that surveil their surroundings constantly judging people's Psycho-Pass. The surveilance camera's are connected to the Sibyl System which is the heart of this system of judgement that rules the city. The first protagonist is Akane Tsunemori, a young woman with a strong sense of justice, which decided to join the Public Safety Bureau, a service branch responsible for law enforcement, as an inspector. Soon she learns of the existence of enforcers, people with high Crime Coefficients that only were brought back to society for the sole purpose of hunting criminals just like them. One of them is Shinya Kogami, a former inspector who turned criminal after a certain incident. He is curious of Akane since she treats latent criminals like human beings instead of hounds which is the common practice. As the story unfolds Akane comes to the same conclusion as Shinya that the Sibyl System isn't so great as it seems and ends up discovering the shocking truth behind it.

This anime gives a wonderful insight in the potential dangers of digitization. As the story develops the dystopia in this anime is exposed for what it really is leaving the watchers thinking. With detailed information about the world and its characters this anime delivers a truly realistic feeling environment. An exciting story that sticks you to the screen along with beautiful fitting visuals and amazing sound make this anime to what it is.

Keep in mind that this anime shows brutal scenes of its reality but if you don't mind that I certainly urge you to watch it.

Description

Justice, and the enforcement of it, has changed. In the 22nd century, Japan enforces the Sibyl System, an objective means of determining the threat level of each citizen by examining their mental state for signs of criminal intent, known as their Psycho-Pass. Inspectors uphold the law by subjugating, often with lethal force, anyone harboring the slightest ill-will; alongside them are Enforcers, jaded Inspectors that have become latent criminals, granted relative freedom in exchange for carrying out the Inspectors' dirty work.

Into this world steps Akane Tsunemori, a young woman with an honest desire to uphold justice. However, as she works alongside veteran Enforcer Shinya Kougami, she soon learns that the Sibyl System's judgments are not as perfect as her fellow Inspectors assume. With everything she has known turned on its head, Akane wrestles with the question of what justice truly is, and whether it can be upheld through the use of a system that may already be corrupt.
