Homestead Photography Contest Week #9 Winners and New Theme
First, off I would like to apologize for this being so late and being unable to leave upvotes on your posts. I had fallen ill for the last 3 or 4 days and have not felt up to getting on the computer or even getting up to do much of anything. I am starting to get on the mend, so I am hoping not to have any more interruptions. Secondly, I would like to thank everyone who made an entry. So let’s get to the winners! The theme for Week #9 was Green On The Homestead. In total, there were 8 entries into the contest.
First place this week goes to @aisu. They will receive .5 sbd. The original posting is located here.
Second place this week goes to @thefarmerswife. They will receive .25 sbd. Their original posting was located here.
Thank you again to everyone who entered. Now, the new theme for Week #10 will be Spring Seed Time. I have been seeing a lot of people here starting seeds, so that will be the theme for this week. Your entry can be of what you have started, or if you haven’t started, tell us about some of the things you will be starting. The usual rules will still apply. 50% of the liquid sbd generated from this post will be given to the winner and 25% will go to the person who places second.
The rules are:
- One entry per person
- Upvote this post to increase the rewards for the winners (not required, but a resteem would be greatly appreciated)
- Please use #homesteadphotography as one of your tags and leave a link in the comments below
- You will have until this post pays out to get in your entries
- Your entry can either be made into a post or your photo can be left in the comments below
Thanks for looking and I cannot wait to see your submissions!
Thank you!!!
Ahh, here I am at the last minute! Hope you see my entry @knowledge-seeker, it was an awesome contest theme. Very relevant!

I’ve started quite a few varieties, but I’ve still got a lot of starting ahead of me! Thank goodness I enjoy it and it doesn’t feel like a chore! :)
That is a lot seeds! I guess in some of your previous blogs where you talked about saving seeds, you meant you SAVED seeds. This is a great representation of all the work to come and one can tell that you do enjoy this time of year. Great Job and Good Luck!
Do you know how many varieties and different kinds of seeds are there? Also out of all of them, what are your top 2 or 3?
Gosh, I don't know. Purchased and gifted seeds... I probably have 200 varieties. Seeds I've harvested and saved, maybe 50.
My favorites are the herbs and tomatoes. Ashwanganda and lemon balm are a couple of my most favorite herbs. Beauty Queen are my absolute favorite tomato, but they come in such an amazing variety of color and size, texture and taste, I just love them all! Unique things like Ice Plant and Trail of Tears bead corn keep the garden interesting and are conversation starters when I have visitors that are interested in plants and gardening.
I'll add this one as an entry. This is a pic old Herman standing guard over the radishes I planted in February. They're growing slow, but handling the cold well.
If I put the #homesteadphotography tag here will that still work that same as if I posted directly from my blog?
Herman looks like he is intently guarding the patch. We usually put our radishes out in rows, but this year we are going to do something similar to what you have done here to reduce the amount of space of our garden. Great job with the entry!
Thanks. Truth is he'd be laying in them if he had the chance!
just answered my own question!
Woo! Thank you.
I'll start thinking about my seed picture.
Resteemed. Maybe I'll get it into the view of a homesteader or two. :)
