Some Travel Tips About Venice
Venice, covering the northeast of Italy is the capital of the Veneto region. I have tried to write some simple tips for a trip to Venice, one of the indispensables of traveling in Italy.
It is based on 118 islands separated by channels from each other. There are 400 bridges connecting the islands and a total of 170 channels. The entire island of Venice is on the UNESCO World Heritage List and is under protection. It is also closed to land traffic and transportation is provided by sea vehicles. You will see a lot of sea vehicles called Vaporetto.
WHEN TO GO TO VENICE?
The most romantic city of Europe is inevitably full of tourists at every month of the year. I think the best times to go are May, September and October. The remaining months are more crowded due to new year, carnival period, valentine’s day, Easter, before christmas things. But, Venice Carnival is world famous. Especially if you are not pursuing romance, I would recommend experience carnival spirit in February while the carnival continues.
Especially if you go in the winter, maybe you can see flooding that called Acqua Alta. It sounds interesting to the ear but people living in the canal meet this situation normally and they continue to their lives. The sirens are already ringing and information messages are going to everyone.
Culture enthusiasts can go to venice biennale, the oldest biennial of the world.
HOW LONG TO STAY IN VENICE?
Venice is a small city that you can easily discovering on foot and by sea vehicles if necessary. Therefore, 2- 3 days is enough for sightseeing.
VENICE CITY TRANSPORT
Transportation is provided from the waterway due to the prohibition of entry of land vehicles into Venice. Otherwise, you need plenty of walking. I would recommend you to walk already to thoroughly explore the city. While trying to find the place you want to go, sometimes you will get lost because of the helplessness of the helping solutions like internet and gps. Because location services are unfortunately unable to detect the streets, which are often narrow. This is nice too, you will be delighted to disappear in Venice.
