Getting back on the Steemit horse

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

When you walk or drive around Copenhagen you will often see, among the thousands of cyclists, a small child sitting on the bicycle seat sleeping while dad or mum battle the elements on the bike lane. Denmark is a cold, wet and windy place, but even in a dark, rainy winter morning these little guys fall asleep in their woolly clothing on the way to kindergarten or nursery school - the little head dangling around.

You would think that it was easy to find photos on the internet of this very common and funny phenomenon, but I only found this. From the website of photographer Natlaia Cury - it's worth a view.

I have had a plan that I would post and comment on Steemit every day, and that I would make a new page of my comic every Thursday - but as I have been ill I simply could not keep up. So I just stopped using the Internet reading only @vcelier's life story and voting a bit on selected profiles. No energy to do anything else digitally. Instead I have been concentrating on getting some fresh air (walking and bicycling), going to the library and reading some old comics.

Just like the little ones I just fell asleep on the iron horse - lets see if I can get back on the Steemit horse again.

Oh yes, this is familiar. We live in Netherlands, and our kids would just fall asleep in the front and back seats. And everyone would say so you know your child is asleep?

Haha, yes, there is nothing like the the little heads that that has fallen back and is snoring right up in the sky or as in the picture where the little girl is hanging with her head on the chest. I guess that is just an aspect of bicycling.

The best bit is the passers-by pointing out the obvious!

AHAHAHAHA LOOOOOL !!!!! :D
So.....we're on.......are you coming to @copensteem ??? :D

I will! Just checked the calender - something as seldom as a free day... until now that is.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

I always love seeing the mothers & children on bikes in the NL.

This isn't a good photo -- it happened too fast, but it's part of what I love about Europe.

Hope you're feeling better.

Thanks. I got to think of this recent post of mine. The Sudanese artist in Copenhagen has in the last image been drawing a mother and child on a bike.

I remember that post :-)

:) yes, I still think of it. It really makes you remember how privileged a life you have here in Europe... and that public libraries are the shit.

Don't push yourself, man. Life will still be here when you get back on the horse.

Although, I really missed your posts. I check your profile almost every day. Your content is first-class for me.

Thanks, nice to hear :)

I hope you feel better soon. Your drawing is being missed, but don't force yourself or I'll flag you.

Just kidding.

Hope you feel better soon. Even when health isn't a concern, sometimes you need to unplug for a while.

Yes, very true. I probably needed a small break anyway.

Sorry to hear you're feeling ill. Isn't it funny how we don't realize how much time and energy Steemit takes up until we get sick and can't focus on it for a while?

Steemit is kinda part of my work now. After selling some of the bitcoins people donated for my Creative Commons art I am able to do a lot more of it. But I had a very serious infection in the summer and after that I have had a lot of trouble with my stomach. Nothing life threatening, but annoying as hell - and it is true that social media kind of drains you. Sometimes you just have to take a break from all that communication :)

I think I have gotten some kind of steemit related semi-depression, it is the dopamine reward system going on and off, in combination with the guilt that comes with time sometimes "wasted" ...

Sorry to hear that - just leave it and listen to something cheerful.

Thanks @katharsisdrill, nice with some happy music sometimes.

I never had a drivers license and have been biking all my life. I will try to support you as best I can.

I hope you are feeling better. I remember riding on those back seats when I was younger. There are some great photos on that Natalia Cury website. Usually those mongoose (that the child was feeding) attack me when I get near them!

I always had a hard time with geese. They are aggressive birds.
