Kapil Sharma has huge fan following of more then 25 million. He was born on 2nd April 1981, his birth name is Kapil Punj but he kept Sharma as his surname which was his maternal surname. Kapil was born & growup in Amritsar, Punjab. His father Jeethendra Kumar Punj was a head-constable in Punjab Police and his mom is a house-wife. His father died because of cancer in year 2004 at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. His brother, Ashok Kumar also a constable in Punjab Police. He was studying in Khalsa college in Amritsar, Punjab.
Kapil rose to fame after successful the comedy reality TV present The Great Indian Laughter Challenge in 2007, for which he was a winner of Rs.10 lakhs prize money. Previously working in the Punjabi TV show Hasde Hasande Ravo on MH One TV channel.He participated in Sony TV Channel's Comedy Circus and keep on winning 6 seasons of the show. He additionally hosted the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 6 and one other comedy show Chhote Miyan. Kapil has participated as a contestant in TV show Ustaadon Ka Ustaad in 2008. In 2013, Kapil launched his personal comedy show, Comedy Nights with Kapil, on name of his banner K9 Productions on Colors TV Channel.
Kapil done his Bollywood debut as the male lead actor in the film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon, a romantic comedy movie directed by Abbas Mustan with 4 bollywood actresses, Elli Avram, Manjari Phadnis, Simran Kaur Mundi and Sai Lokur. The movie released on 25 September 2015 to combined reviews from critics and did record breaking business on opening day.After end of Comedy Nights with Kapil, Kapil signed a contract with Sony TV Channel for his new show known as The Kapil Sharma Show. The Kapil Sharma Show started showing on 23 April 2016. After that he is working on Sony Entertainment Television for The Kapil Sharma Show with his K9 Productions.
The Ormax Media rated Kapil Sharma the best well-liked Indian TV actor in April 2016. The Forbes India ranked him 27th on their Celeb-100 listing in 2015. The Forbes India ranked him at seventh place by way of fame and at 11th place by way of revenue on their Celeb - 100 listing in 2016. He was awarded the CNN-IBN Indian of the Yr 2013, within the Entertainment class and was ranked third in the Most Admired Indian Character Listing by The Economic Times in 2015. Sharma nominated for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by the Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi and invited to the Rashtrapati Bhavan by President Pranab Mukherjee in Sep. 2015 to apriciate his contribution toverds the same.
