Picture Stories #313 - Colorful Birds

in #photography7 years ago (edited)

Birds are wonderful creations of nature, which have been truly blessed to posses the ability of flight unlike us humans, who have to depend on artificial means to take to the air. The pretty foliage that covers the slender and agile bodies of members of the avian family gives them a distinctive and attractive look. Birds, like most animals, come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and colors too. And I'm always curious to discover some new species or look at some curious new bird that I've not seen before. That is why going to the Jurong Bird Park in Singapore was a really special visit for me, as I got to admire a lot of interesting birds. One of my favorites was the Scarlet Macaw from the Macaw family, with that lovely spread of red covering its body, along with a splash of some more bright and beautiful colors.

There was another interesting Macaw in the neighborhood called the "Blue-throated Macaw", and it's obvious going by the name that there was a lot of Blue on the gorgeous bird. Sadly, this bird falls in the critically endangered list.

After seeing a lot of vivid colors on display, it was a refreshing change to see an white bird, yet this bird was also beautiful and looked majestic. Its name was "Citron-crested Cockatoo", and the bird was quite inquisitive and looked friendly.

Another pretty bird which I saw was the "Solomon Island Eclectus", a name I'd never heard of before but it looked somewhat similar to the parrots we see commonly around here.

These birds were part of an exhibit called the Parrot Paradise, which housed all kinds of birds from the Parrot family, and interestingly enough quite a few of them where birds I'd not heard of or seen before.

Hope you enjoyed seeing these bright and beautiful creatures, I certainly did!

Thank you for reading!
