The Steem/Typerium partnership likely spells good things for STEEM in the long run.

If you haven't heard by now, Steem and Typerium announced a joint collaboration yesterday.

It was easy to miss with all the excitement (drama) surrounding not 1 but 2 hard forks.

What does this mean for steem?

On the surface and in the very near term, it likely doesn't mean all that much.

However, in the long run, it could be very meaningful, mostly depending on if Typerium is able to build any kind of a community outside of steem/steemit users.

To understand how they will be interconnected, this comment by @lordbutterfly on the above post sums it up pretty well:

"So Typerium will basically be to steem what dtube is to steem now. Integrated cross posting but seperate chains. That's what i got from this."

Which means steem likely won't see too much benefit unless the Typerium community can start to bring new users over to the steem community.

I don't expect to see a huge benefit in the near term, but over time I think it could be significantly beneficial.

If Typerium provides another gateway for people to get involved with steem, all the better.

Steem and steemit should be trying to get as many collaborations and partnerships like this as they can as it will give steem greater staying power and help strengthen the brand/ecosystem.
