The crossed knives. (Old traditions)

in #photography8 years ago

Venezuela is a country where people certainly cling to the customs and beliefs of their ancestors ... in this article I will talk a little about what my mom calls "crossing the knives".

This tradition, commonly used as a repeller of the rain, is believed that by crossing it, though the clouds are on you, there will no be a single drop of water on your roof; a possible variant would be to throw salt over the knives to give them more "power", my dear readers I ask you, if you know of this tradition in other parts of Venezuela or the world, please comment your experience in this regard.

This image was taken in Tomoporo de Agua, a small village of palafitos (houses on the water).

That is amazing. I think it is great to find old traditions. Having to question why something is the way it is.

Thank you for your comment! i hope to share more material like this...

In my country there are people who can stop the rain from dropping but I don't know how they do it. I know they hold the rain from dropping but don't know the means. Your mom can be right, I will try it when the raining season starts.
