WITHOUT PLATELETS (An Original Poetry)

We're like revving airplanes
filled and flying with dozing hearts
going on Odyssey to nowhere
the zeal to cook the sun for lunch
is like floating on quicksands
brandishing bows and arrows
but too impotent to shoot
embracing cowardice like family
like mushrooms planted in the riverside
We are without platelets
bleeding to extinction
the sweetness of fear
have crippled the craving to fly
murdered the desire to explode
into a billion diamond fragments
like Peter out in the lonely water
afraid of the monsterous tide.
Without platelets
clotting our dreams
sailors freightened at shipwrecks
warriors in the comfort of the imagination
but intimidated by the noises of war
basking in the victory unseen.
the love we see
only ignites in the virtuality
but quenches in the harshness of reality.
We are without platelets
clotting our yearns for affection
a kiss on our thirsty skin
but tongue is too tied to speak
too dumb to speak
and the eyes are to blind to see
we're chameleons without homes
living in the shadow of nonentity
living to die a petal's death.

Great poem, @josediccus.
It captures the fragility of human existence and will.
There is so much written and said about human potential and so little realized. We are a design, a project that never builds itself or is built on sand, on shaky grounds.
I like the image of the plateletless body "bleeding to extinction" (it has a very strong resonance now in Venezuela with epidemics of hemorrhagic dengue cutting lives short).
Fear is certainly a powerful impairment, both at the personal level and at the social level. Our societies end up accepting injustice, exploitation, etc in the name of safety, fear of the unknown.
I like the paradoxes you established. A sailor fearing a shipwreck is like a doctor fainting at the sight of blood.
Human beings, endowed with reason fear reasoning; gifted with language fear communicating; blessed with art fear expressing; privileged with goodness fear doing good. Insecurities have turned us into passive monsters.
You have created a gorgeous image here:
