Hi everyone my name is John and I looking forward to contributing to the Steemit community!

Personally:

I live on an island 30 mins by boat from Seattle on a small farm with animals everywhere you look (poop too!).

I am dyslexic but figure it out my way.

I am the Father of 2 boys (5 and 17) who give me 2 different levels of "NO" at any given time... keeps me on my toes.

I build all types of guitars out of stuff I find as a hobby and have been playing for 35 years.

I can be sarcastic at the worst of times.

Professionally:

I have been working in the internet industry since 1996 starting off as biz dev turned into web dev after the people that I worked with said they could not do something and it made me mad, so I learned. In 1997 I shifted my focus to SEO (it was not called that yet) because I had built so many sites for clients that all needed traffic, I had to do something so that started me down a long path I am still on today.

The natural next step was Analytics because I needed to report to the clients the actual results of what they were paying me to do. In 2001 after a bunch of tracking services went down so I built my own site, Free-Hit-Counters.com (this was before Google analytics, or even Urchin the software they grabbed to turn into GA) that was a big hit with over 100,000 users. Problem was the name "Free" in free-hit-counters, was great for SEO at the time (kicked MS BCentral outta the water in the SERPS in the day) but sucked because everyone wanted it for free and that made it hard to monetize, it turned out to be more trouble than profitable with crashes and policing users with questionable content.

After that my SEO company was acquired by an ad agency (sounds cool, but basically just gave me a job) and I got the opportunity to work for some of the biggest brands in the world until 2012 when my son was born and needed to work less than 60 hrs a week.
Since then I have become an iOS app dev (intermediate), and expanded my R, and python knowlage between freelance SEO, and Analytics work.

Why I am here

Not going to lie... FOMO.. HAHAHAHA

I mentioned above I am into cryptocurrency. I was doing some research and thought it was time to look at Steem.
What a great idea!
I am currently playing around with a site ETNvalue.com and publishing some articles I will share on Steemit, I also have 15 other crypto related domains I will be developing in the future.

I like the mix of creation and curation here, and think I can contribute some value.
