Alpine Sunrise Panorama Photo (2019-02-14)

in #photography5 years ago

Today I once again took a day off and instead of going to work I drove to Villach and on the Villach Alpine Road on the Dobratsch and then hiked to the summit.

This panoramic photo facing south is also my contribution to the LANDSCAPE / SEASCAPE CONTEST WEEK # 016 by @axeman.

Please do not ask me what the individual mountains are called, but on the left are the Karawanks, which turn right into the Carnic Alps and beyond into the Julian Alps.

At 4am the alarm clock rang this morning ... at 4:40am I drove off to Villach and arrived at 5:30am at the parking lot Rosstratte (last parking lot of the Villach Alpine Road). The snow was frozen hard and so walking was easy and I was already at the summit at 6:45am.

The sunrise was not so intense because of the low clouds, but it was still nice and the weather was on the whole optimally.

Superb panorama! You reminded me that I forgot about this method of photography.)))

Thank you again @barski, I photograph them very fast and this is why my photos are sometimes more or less blurred ;)

Great shot. And taking this kind of shots is so much better then go working. Villach is the town where we used to stay on our way to Yugoslavia when I was a kid.

Thank you @tijntje, anything is better then working ;)

So true @johannpiber! 😁

Beautiful pano shot! Looking at it full screen and zoomed in I can use the arrow keys to move across the image. Thanks for sharing @johannpiber!

Thank you @oldmans, I had to downsize the image by 75% so I could upload it here ... and it's a bit blurry, but unfortunately I did not see it until I got home.

I have a pano I've been thinking about posting. May need to revisit that now and see how it goes. :)

... and then post it please, I want to see it 😊

Gosh! You are really crazy about mountains! Waking up at 4am and hiking in the cold weather!!
Beautiful mountain ranges! Oh! You didn’t go to work either!

So nice! You can choose to be with nature!

Thank you @kaminchan, yes, I can choose, at least mostly 😉
Nobody who has not done things like this before can not imagine how it feels to walk up a mountain in darkness and alone - it's so calm and peaceful and all in all a wonderful experience, believe me 😊

Love to be there too! But I am too far away to hitch a ride with you!
That solitary moment when you are in communion with nature and the divine!
I envy your opportunity to be there with the mountains! Do send some good vibes and energy this way! I need this nourishment!

Thank you again @kaminchan ... the good vibes are on their way and should reach you soon 🌈

Thank you! Got it!
Now I can go to bed!

Have a good night @kaminchan 💤

wow beautiful view of Alpine Sunrise with Panorama.
Thanks for share with us..

You are welcome, thank you my friend :)

Howdy sir johannpiber! wow that is one nice picture! What is that building on the left? It's all mountains over there, you have to be a mountain goat to live there!

Hello @janton, this is a church on top of the mountain. Actually there are two churches there, but I will show the other one in another post ;)

oh wow sir johannpiber! that is amazing! nobody uses it anymore? It looks like there's no way to even get to it. That's a great idea to have a church there though. I'd go to that church just for the views if nothing else!

These churches are not abandoned, my dear friend, they are well visited and from time to time a priest comes and holds a holy mass there.

There is a way to the second church, but you should not be afraid of heights though ;)

ha! "you should not be afraid of heights! " lol. I bet. I would stil try to get there or maybe the other one. That's very interesting about the church still being used though!

It's not that dangerous, but the mountain goes down very steeply on both sides.
Unfortunately, I have not found english information about these churches, but ...
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deutsche_Kapelle_(Dobratsch)
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windische_Kapelle_(Dobratsch)

oh these are great sir johannpiber, thank you. I don't see any chimneys or stove pipes or anything sticking up, how are they heated?

I'm sorry, @janton, but I have never been inside and also did not look for such things - maybe there is some kind of wood stove in there, but I'm not sure. Next time when I am up there I will have a closer look and tell you then.
