Costco Warehouse Wine VS Vineyards

I made it out of the Santa Rosa area of California where a lot of wine is made. As I was looking for gasoline to refuel my rental car, I noticed a Costco right by the rental car return. Costco usually has inexpensive gasoline compared to other gas stations.

Unfortunately, the Costco gasoline station was under construction. I took the opportunity though, to go inside to get some snacks and fresh fruit for the plane ride home. I was surprised to see wine from Simi that I had just visited, in Costco for much less than they were selling at the vineyard.

I chose not to buy wine from the Simi vineyard because it is distributed nationally and there was no break in the price. Instead of wine, I bought a Chardonnay & Roasted Garlic Marinade that looked delicious.

The marinade was actually made in Napa Valley which was right down the road. I was intrigued about the cost of wine at Costco’s so I did some further research.

This article mentions that Costco charges less for their wine because they charge the members a fee to shop there. I had not paid much attention to the wind and Cosco, because I buy my wine through Wine Insiders which sells award winning wine from all over the world and it is shipped right to my front door.

So, if you need a few bottles of good wine and you are a member of the Costco warehouse, you may want to pick up a few bottles for the holidays at a reasonable cost. You don’t have to travel all the way to Napa Valley or Sonoma County either. Cheers!
