Walking between rainstorms - My Actifit Report: July 5 2019

I decided to make use of the “All Trails” app that I learned about from @prettynicevideo’s friend Liz at the fabulous Block Party a few weeks ago, put on by @thealliance.

With the app you can find hiking trails in your area of various lengths and levels of difficulty. So I picked one that was moderate (no easy stuff for this gal), only to drive there and find myself in a residential cul-de-sac. Turns out that was Google’s best attempt at getting me there, but the road to it is actually closed for construction. So I went to a nearby trail I knew.

I had Zoey with me, and there is an area for dogs off leash. First we parked a ways away, at another nearby park that connects by paved trail. It had poured rain the whole time I was driving over, so I knew if the trail was too muddy, at least we would get a bit of a walk!

The walk between the two parks took us past an event center with a sense of humor. They have painted cows all around. Zoey thought they were real, so she gave them a talking to!

In addition to the regular cows there were colorful ones too.

The gate to the event center was open so we walked into the property and checked it out. I’m assuming it’s mostly used for barn dances and wedding receptions. Pretty cool place! I’m not sure how I’ve never noticed it before. But it just goes to show you why it’s so keen to get out of your car and walk places.

Then we walked past the little airport that’s on that same road.

Finally we got to the park. There was not a soul around. Zoey said, “where are all my doggy friends?”

But we set off!

It is very woodsy and it was dark in there! She was a little nervous.

But we had a very nice walk through the woods and there were some sections that were much brighter.

We came upon an Eagle Scout project. Can you tell what it is?

Bee habitat! We didn’t see any bees.

We also came to a structure. Probably anyone but me would know what this is immediately. But I could not guess at first. It was a little spooky.

I bet you figured it out.

This is definitely a multi-use area! See what else happens here in winter.

So that was our walk. After that we strolled back to the other park and headed home. The rain started coming down again and it poured buckets the whole way! So I was feeling very blessed to have timed my walk to the break between storms.
