My Actifit Report Card: January 2 2019 -Healthy food part 1

For today’s actifit blog post I’m going to talk about the food part of my weight loss journey. Kicking exercise into gear is great, but I have found that to get trim I absolutely have to get on track with food too. And it’s going really well!

So, here’s what I’m doing. Maybe it will help someone else.

The main thing is cutting back. I know that is so boring, but it’s incredibly effective. Each day I set my mind that I am going to eat light. I only eat one “full” meal each day. The other two are very light. For example, I might have a banana with peanut butter for breakfast and a salad with dome kind of lean protein for lunch. Then I can have a full dinner. But it’s still pretty light. For example, tonight I made salmon, rice and broccoli. My family members had all three but I only had the salmon and broccoli.

If I get really hungry between meals I might make a protein shake or eat some snow peas or eat a small handful of almonds.

Also, if all is going well I occasional allow myself to have a teensy treat, like a chocolate.

I am really not feeling deprived at all! And I really enjoy what I eat. And I’m losing weight!

I have more tips to share, so maybe in my next post I will talk about supplements.

I find that I feel best if I eat lots of fresh food. That could be considered light since it is pretty low on calories. But I like to eat lots of it LOL

Oh yes, good point! Eating light doesn’t necessarily mean eating tiny portions. You can eat as many fresh vegetables as you want. For dinner tonight, steamed broccoli covered 2/3 of my plate. And you should see the bodacious salads I eat! That’s the great thing about veggies. It’s pretty much impossible to go overboard!

Good for you, @jayna! I lost "half my size" - 135 pounds 8 years ago and have never looked back. My best strategy is to ADD nutrition and REMOVE toxins. I do not count calories, I count the essential nutrients instead. I seems like you are of a similar mindset.

I like you taking us on your food journey as well as the actifit journey. Just cutting portions down and teaching yourself to stop eating when you are sated instead of stuffed is a huge accomplishment. I lost about 35 lbs using that strategy along with healthy foods.

Wow, 35 pounds. That’s wonderful! It sounds like you did all the right things. Crash diets are never a good idea. But making simple lifestyle changes that not only help you trim down but also improve your overall health is a great idea. Especially if the choices you make are sustainable for the long run!
