The Divine Move (Game of Go series) #10steemCreated with Sketch.

Hello Steeamians !

Today is a day where I review my Go game, here is one that I played today. I wanted to improve myself and gain at least the rank 9kyu in order to be a simple digit kyu player. I hope you'll enjoy this game !

Just know that this game is simply amazing ! If you like strategy game like chess, it's even a better game, simpler but deeper.
I made a post with the basic rules, you can find it here.

So I really encourage you to check out the game and here are more links that could help :
A site where you can easily play.
An amazing Youtube channel

Now, back to the game !

I played against a Japanese 10 kyu+, I was black once again. I started with my favorite opening the Chinese against one hoshi and a komuku.

After his approach move O17 and my response, he immediately played the annoying move for me R12.

He played that sequence but left a cut behind. I’m not sure if it’s the right time to cut right now but that’s what I did. I felt pretty confident because he had more weakness than I.

After that cut, he was split apart and had to live with both of his group. I played P7 to put some pressure on his left group but also to avoid him playing it. If he did that would have been really great for his group and reduce me largely. So I thought that it was a good move.

He didn’t miss that opportunity and tried to live with his other group but I managed to kill it. If you look at the previous picture, his two stones didn’t really have a lot of space, I would have been very surprise if he succeeded. After that sequence, he played a strange move, T18, I ignored it and played a big move elsewhere.

He really wanted to enclosed my upper right group, as you can see he played a lot of move there. I let him mind his own business while I played big moves in the upper side in order to cancelled the influence created by his big wall.

He placed some stones in my bottom right corner but I didn’t really understand what he was trying to do. The only way I can explain it is that he was desperately trying to rescue his killed group.

Next thing we did was the upper left corner, that wasn’t joseki at all but I was ok with the result. He resigned soon after.
The conclusion is that after his lost at the beginning of the game, he tried to save it with everything he could do but nothing work. When we started to play elsewhere, he realized that he was too much behind. He didn’t try to

This game looks very interesting. Is the strategy very in depth? I thought it was a variation of Othello at first, but it looks like I was way off.

I don't know a game with a deeper strategy and trust me I tried a lot of games :D

Nice post. I have this game that I brought back from Japan in the early 60's but I never learned to play. Now I am motivated to do so.

Don't forget that you can add me on OGS to play a game ;)
