Promoting Open Source Projects on Twitter - Zappl

I'm back on my series "Promoting Open Source Projects on Twitter", where I talk about open source projects I promoted on Twitter. This is the third in the series, it was started about a week ago. This time around the open source project I talked about was Zappl.

Zappl is a micro-blogging website on the the Steem Blockchain. A zap is similar to a tweet, it has a maximum of 280 characters. Users get rewarded with Steem, just like Steemit does. Imagine if everyone on Twitter joined Zappl, it will be very rewarding for the users, Zappl and even the Steem Blochain.

I composed a tweet about the zappl and attached a captivating picture to the tweet. The tweet had a link to the Zappl website. It was shared on my feed twitter account, which is used primarily for promotions. The username is @jaff8, it is similar to that of my Steemit. I have over 276,000 followers in this account.

What was the result?

This is a part I always look forward to. The result was very quite rewarding. Quite a number of persons got to see the tweet. Imagine telling someone that his/her tweet that usually have hundreds of retweets, that if he/she had such in Zappl, it would get him/her some money. That must have been very nice for my followers to hear. Most of them noticed I have been talking about social networks that rewards for content and Zappl is one that the length or contents does not really matter, what matters in this one is to make a "bomb ass" zap.

My twitter was not trending like the other day, but the analytics says a lot. From analytics on the image above, it can be seen the tweet garnered about 5,945 impressions, the total engagement is currently 399 within about 2 days. This engagement includes the 240 retweets, 33 detail expands, 85 link clicks, 17 media engagements and 22 likes.

What does the analytics mean?

The number of impressions means the number of times the tweets was seen by twitter users. Talking about the engagement, the retweets means the number of twitter users that shared my tweet to their profiles, so it can also be seen by their followers. The detail expands means the number of times, twitter users clicked to check if there was more information on the tweet. The link clicks is the number of times users visited Zappl.com , the website that looks like Twitter. The media engagement is the number of times, twitter users clicked on the image that was attached to the tweet. An image was attached to the tweet in order for more users to see it. The likes is the number of twitter users that liked the tweet.

A brief analysis of the accounts that retweeted shows that it included some big accounts like that of @trafficchiefng a traffic account with over 71,000 followers, @gwkemmis who has over 40,000 followers, @nairawall an exchange company that has over 35,000 followers and also @blackfacemedia that has over 20,000 followers. When you look at the likes of the tweet too, it shows that it was liked by Zappl official account @zappl_io.

The tweet was posted 6:47PM GMT+1 on 04 December 2017. The analytics was taken when this tweet was being composed.

Like most of my tweets, this tweet was also shared to Facebook by some of my followers. A Facebook user named Bestman Echendu shared on his Facebook page.
