Privacy Issues From Our Online Activities
Many of us are benefitting from Google, thus we view it as an advantage. It made thing easier by easy searching of things we had in mind needing some answers. Besides, our phone's operating system may be Android, which was owned by Google, and their products are really beneficial.
However, there are some things that we think as simple tasks, and Google is making profit from it. I recently aired my grievances regarding activities like Google Assistant recording our voices or audios which affects our online privacy. In fact, there are a lot of online activities which risks our privacy particularly social media sites.
Recently, Facebook and its CEO Mark Zuckerberg is under fire after the company sold data of 50 million Facebook users which outraged users and even lawmakers for lacking privacy of their users and now facing backlash which affected their stakes resulting to billions of dollars losses.
Facebook knows us
Facebook knows everything about us, which you might not know, depending on our activities. Whatever you search on Facebook, they are recording it. Data being scraped are likely to get sold to their clients. Just imagine the ads appearing in our timeline or news updates. They were often according to what we recently searched.
What is worrying is the possible access on Messenger accounts. There's huge likelihood they know your inputs on PMs. So how can it be called "private" message, when it's not really private? Have a watch on this video on YouTube by John Field and see for yourself how Facebook is benefitting from us.
Google products such as YouTube, Maps, etc.
Your activities on Google products such as YouTube, Maps, Chrome, etc. were recorded by Google. You can check them on history.google.com/history. Even the places where you visited were recorded if your Google Maps is on. Google Assistant records audios and your voice which I recently blogged about. Google Chrome saves your searches, thus leading to some ads showing up that are accordingly to your recent searches. Those ads were from another Google product, Google Adsense.
If you also check on seaech results from Google, you can notice ads as well. It shows such tech giant will do everything so they gain more profit. How about Gmail?
How can we possibly see an ad on our email accounts which are supposed to be private? Even ads are relatable to the emails you are receiving!
YouTube is also a place loaded with a bunch of advertisements. Looking back, you can only see small ads in some space. But now, ads are almost everywhere. They always show up in videos you are watching. How about Autoplay? As far as I know, those videos on Autoplay may be paying to gain more views, thus more profits. They even know the demographics of who viewed the videos.
Privacy issues
Yes, we are losing privacy from these tech giants whom we trusted to take care of our informations and activities. Yet, they are the ones who are exploiting people using their services, and we are actually products being sold for their pockets to thicken. There may be terms to check for, but majority of users are ignorant of such. The thing is they shoudl give respect on our identity, our life, and our privacy.

For me, as long as they don't use any of the information they are gathering from my account without permission then no criminal case will be filed against them. Well what can we do? Google is a tech giant where almost all of us depends on for email, videos, maps and searches...
