Tropical Depression Imelda

in #creativecoin5 years ago (edited)

Tropical Depression Imelda caused massive flooding throughout southeastern Texas last week.
It came as a surprise to most as it was a Tropical Storm that was downgraded to a Tropical Depression before it arrived.

5 lives were lost due to the flooding.

Imelda is the 7th biggest Tropical Cyclone in US history....which is crazy since it was downgraded from an actual Tropical Storm.
The most amount of rainfall was 43 inches southwest of Beaumont.
I live just east of that area.

The biggest part of the storm happened Wednesday night, flooding major roads and highways.
I didn't venture out until Monday and I decided to take a drive to see the damage.

I am sure that you will be amazed unimpressed by my photographic skillz as a professional amateur photo journalist rando with a cell phone....

I live down the road from a fairly large bayou. Most of these pics are from that area.

This is the first bit of flooding I saw as I pulled out of my neighborhood onto the road which crosses over the bayou.

There was a barrier warning people not to drive over the bayou bridge so I turned the other way.
These are just some random trees swimming in some flood water.

I drove around town for a while and saw some more flooding but wasn't able to capture any clear images.
I tried to go around on another road to get on the other side of the bayou bridge, but the road was blocked there as well. I had to turn around here on this road that turned into a lake.

I decided to head back home and go past the barrier to check out the bayou.

I drove over the bridge and saw this poor house swimming in some water.

The cops were blocking the road just past the bridge so I had to turn around. This picture here is actually a road I drive on every day. It looks like a lake here, but yeah...it's a road.

Same lake/road and a sad little swimming house on the right.

This is someone's backyard flooded by the bayou.

This is just to the right of the bayou.

And here is the lovely bayou. The water is very high, but luckily it never flooded over the bridge.

Tropical Depression Imelda

I Thought this was some emo character until I read more. It sounds similar to your name.

It must be terrible with all that rain. I hope you stay dry.

HBD! It's mine, too.

lol
Happy Birthday!!!

Your FAQs cracked me up. Birthday hugs comin' your way! As for the pictures, they tell a story I've seen too much of, having lived in New Orleans for a couple of winters (and having the name Katrina)... I hope the water recedes and that the people affected have help. Nature is powerful, and she'll keep doing her thing. We humans need to find ways to live in harmony with her. Much love, you funny, talented, amazing person, you!

Thank you Katrina!!! ❤❤❤

What cool shots and some fun edits, the power of nature thoughts with the families of those who lost their lives so sad

I loved the FAQ gave me a chuckle

and I guess Happy Birthday is in order ;)

hmm. u are hilarious, i like the shitty cell phone pics as they are surreal, you should give your Canon to me cause i really want it, and considering you have just been thru a depression with that much rain and cats who must have all been cooped up in a tiny apt, you seem relatively sane to me. Happy Birthday and on the last statement... incorrect.

Thank you Tor♥

Cool pictures, shun the naysayers. Shun!
Stay well, stay safe.
Also Happy Birthday. <3

Thank you!!!

Holy smokes, that's a lot of water :0

Happy birthday!!! Your crazy is cool. Hope you have loads of fun inside with your cats though. The flood is terrible. I pray more lives are not lost.

I was just saying @bashadow's post how i would love to like go to a photography school as well as get a really cool camera. Maybe he can help you. Lol

Thank you! Photography school would be awesome for sure.

The pictures looks great to me 😬
