Today I thought I would share another delicious and very versatile leafy veggie mallum recipe with you

The word "mellum" is similar to a salad. It differs slightly from a salad in that the leaves are wilted and combined with shredded coconut among other wonderful spices. Its taste, color and vibrant green color work to boost health.

Today I am going to make Nocall leaves (Kohlrabi leaves ) malluma.

So now let's start.

Nocall leaves are a vegetable related to the cabbage family and are widely used in Asia.
If you read about the taste and texture of Nocall, it is more similar to the taste of broccoli stems and cabbage, but it is slightly sweeter.

Its bulb part is widely used in salads and soups and Sri Lankans cook it with coconut milk.. Its leaves and stems are slightly crispy.

It has many health benefits and is a good source of nutrients like vitamin C and fiber. In addition, you can enjoy nocall leaves raw or as a salad.


INGREDIENTS


🥦200g greens, washed and dried (5-6 leaves)
🥦Oil 2 tbsp.
🥦red onion finely chopped 1/2
🥦 sprig curry leaves 1
🥦mustard seeds 1 tsp.
🥦 shredded coconut 1/4 cup
🥦turmeric 1/2 tsp.
🥦salt to taste


METHOD

  • Finely chop nocall leaves. They are held tightly into a cigar shape and can be sliced ​​very thinly using a sharp knife.

  • Add a little oil to a small frying pan. When it is hot add curry powder, mustard seeds and onion and garlic. Fry the onion until soft.

  • Add coconut, turmeric and salt to the cut green leaves and cook until wilted. Mix well until just warm.

Serve hot with dhal curry and fish curry along with fluffy white rice to make it more delicious.
