How To Enjoy The Summer Evenings

Do not place the horizon to the middle of the photo. Unless you absolutely, definitely want to. Or there's a reflection.

You know what's the best way to spend a peaceful spring or summer evening or night in Finland? In the land of thousand lakes. Where there's a summer cottage in every bay and cape. In the quiet countryside, on a lake shore. Or if you decide to go row a boat on the lake. Or canoeing. Some silent means of transportation that floats and has no motor that would make a loud noise.

Out there, where you are certain every word that you say with a normal voice, can be heard on the opposite side of the lake.

You can play with sounds! Try this fun game and find out if your friendly neighbors are listening. If you are lucky, the echo may come to play with you too! A fun activity alone or with your friends.

An example of the sounds and words that you can make. Feel free to improvise!

Yes. You saw right. It's a plastic bottle in the lake. I'm hoping it was a mark for the fish-trap body and not just trash thrown in the lake. :(

Who the heck would mark a body in the lake?

Thanks for another creative and amusing post, @insaneworks! Echos are always cool... Over here, we experience that in the mountains, as we don't have that many lakes. Or big.

:)
My brain.
I can't help.
Had to get this out of my system.

I actually started reading in the middle... finished it then started from the start to be sure. Lots of fun this :)

Fun? Reading from the middle or the post? ;D

The post and reading from the middle haha, once you get into the echo it is hard not to try and mimic it in your head.

Great photos mate! Can't wait to come back to FIN.

Thanks! I thought so too when I saw what I captured. I was especially impressed with the blue boat, blue skies combination in the second photo. :)

Yes, that was my favourite one.

I had always wondered how to enjoy the summer evenings, and now I know how. There are a lot of lakes where I live, so maybe I will give this a shot this weekend. I don't have an axe but I do have a hatchet which I think would work well.

Now you know. :D
Hatchet may have an interesting echo.
Don't know what makes the best splash sound, an actual body of course, but if you don't have one, you just have to improvise.

i could always just use the hatchet to kill myself on a cliff above the lake, then fall into the lake dead for that best splash sound. but then i wouldn't be able to write about the event afterward.

But that's what friends are for! So you can be the one telling the story afterwards.
"Hey Randy / Alice, would you like to look at my hatchet here on the cliff above the lake?"

Randy. Definitely Randy. Fuck that guy.
