Space weather and solar wind levels are rising due to Coronal holes: large regions in the corona that are less dense and cooler than surrounding areas. The open structure of their magnetic field allows a constant flow of high-density plasma to stream out of the holes. There is an increase in the intensity of the solar wind effects on Earth when a coronal hole faces us. As I write two coronal holes are beginning to make magnetic connection with Earth. This increase in solar wind can be felt by the more sensitive and can actually create elevated risk to cardio vascular and mental health patients. These particular Coronal holes are not very powerful so there may be only some minor power grid fluctuations, and perhaps interference with satellite communications, such as GPS, satellite internet and television.
        You may have also heard that geomagnetic storms are responsible for marine mammal beachings, as the interference with Earth's magnetic field interferes with their internal compasses.That might not be the case after all - as a NASA study found no clear causal connection between beaching events and geomagnetic storms.
        If you're at high latitudes, you might be lucky enough to see aurora borealis or australis, as the charged particles from interactions with the solar wind are channeled towards Earth's poles by the magnetic field lines, where they interact with the ionosphere for a spectacular light show.

Meanwhile back on Earth, as Florida begins picking up the pieces after their tropical storms a typhoon is developing and moving towards the Mariana Islands: a crescent-shaped archipelago comprising the summits of fifteen mostly dormant volcanic mountains in the western North Pacific Ocean. Here in Southern Spain we have some light cloud and patchy rain with 22 Centigrade and 58% humidity. Wind: 17 KPH from the North-West.
