What About....Creating Your Own Religion?

in #life7 years ago (edited)

So, what do you believe in?

These are my thoughts...

They will be controversial. No doubt.

I have been following some interesting conversations in the Politically Incorrect discord channel about beliefs and religion and it inspired me to write this post.

I believe that the world has the same God in whatever form that takes. There are just different versions of how to worship.

Some people might want to split that up into a number of Gods to serve and please.

But we all have one purpose to serve a higher being, in whatever form that takes, and be the best version of ourselves and project that out to the world.

No belief or religion should involve killing others who do not have the same opinion or belief. That is just nonsense.

I used to have a closed mind and it was Christianity all the way, but that mindset has caused wars.

That and every church or Christian community I have ever tried to become part of is full of cliques, hypocrisy, gossip and pastors who think they are God.

But, for a long time, I have considered myself as a Christian and I still believe there to be something divine watching over me at times, I'm still here after all.

In my childhood, my stepfather, for example, had a heart attack and died before sexual abuse became too much for an 10 year old to bear.

I believed that to be an act of God, the Universe, or a guardian angel.

I wish they had come to help out and stated in big neon lights saying "DO NOT GO ON THAT BLIND DATE" when I met my ex-husband. But, I probably would have ignored it and I wouldn't be who I am today, without him.

So religion, it's about what works for you and resonates with your soul, it might be a particular belief or an amalgamation of many. It gives you a passion and a desire to live a certain way. Perhaps another way to explore it would be to look at spirituality, rather than religion.

It might be one particular one, but I urge you to keep an open mind and just look at what other things people believe, you don't have to believe it too, but it opens your mind to the possibilities of this world and you begin to see that one religious view is just one path you could take.

We are all human and we all have the same emotions, whatever trials life throws at us.

And just as I write this, I see that @valorforfreedom has written about What is Odinism. I'm willing to bet that is not something a lot of you know about.

Go, people, expand your minds. Get out of the bubble.

So, now I'm going around taking the best bits and creating my own religion.

No more blinkers for me.

Maybe there is a word for that. I don't know it.

But these are my views and thank you for allowing me to share them with you.

I'd love to hear what you think too.

Hey, and if you'd like to share them in the Politically Incorrect Channel, are passionate about self-improvement and like a good debate, then we'd love to see you in there too :)

I love you!

This is perhaps the most simple religion.

I have a lot of thoughts, mostly based on one profound nugget that I saw shining like a diamond in your post:

I believe that the world has the same God in whatever form that takes. There are just different versions of how to worship.

People need to meditate on that weekly, some people daily. There is only one reality, no many how many ways we invent to describe it!

I like thinking of religion(s) as the symbolism that helps our minds wrap around the power of infinity.

Hello @hopehuggs,
WOW. This is huge dear. This is exactly my ideology. ENough about the divisions that separate us and more about the things that bring us together. For starters we are all humans...if you consider it deeply, you discover that we are one and the same people with similar drives.

Religion is just one of the tools by political systems to drive people to go nuts and do irrational things. It becomes worse when it gets to the extent of fanatism. Religion is bad but spirituality is good. That should be our aims always to be better humans.

I believe that the world has the same God in whatever form that takes. There are just different versions of how to worship.

WORDS IN GOLD LETTERS.

Cheers dear.

The religion will be called "Helenism"!

Thanks for the shoutout and the link to my post!

You are Buddha. I am Buddha.
All various themes of the same idea.

I would take it one step further and claim that the Divinity is within each and every one of us. How we interpret it is how it manifests itself in the world and why it has so many forms, and why it can easily be distorted for hateful purposes.

Maybe even further... If I venture that it is the source of sentience. Eh what do I know, I'm probably just crazy.

I am a fan of Buddhism though and a particular variant that seems to inject humor into the understanding. The whole mindfulness and Zen aspects. I was thinking about writing about that... Maybe that's next :)
