Wednesday Walk Along The Marina. Competition by @tatoodjay

I started this walk near the ferry port with a view over the working end of the harbour. This is the end where the fishing boats operate from and of course the ferry.

I stayed to watch the ferries coming and going for a while.

Not all of the boats have been put into the water yet.

This area used to be open to swimmers but recently it was closed to the public. Maybe health and safety reasons.

The fountain in the ground was working today in front of an old traditional fishing boat.

Boats with the traditional Maltese colouring are not so many now, but there are a few about still.

Can you imagine fishing in the open in stormy weather?

Quite a pleasant looking harbour office and customs house.

The end of the marina. I am told that it is cheaper to rent an apartment than keeping a boat in the marina.

Time to start back.

In the distance on the headland, the old fort. This is slowly being converted into luxurious houses and apartments. Quite an exclusive development. a far cry from its original reason for being built in the 18th century by the French during their occupation of the islands. Later it was used by the British during their occupation .

beautiful photos, I presume in Malta?

Thanks very much Fred, it is Gozo the second largest island of Malta archipelago. Hard to miss images from Malta everything is limestone yellow. And of course the distinctive boat colours. Not so many of those about these days. The replacements are plastic tubs.
I assume that you have been to Malta to recognise the place?
