Zombie Adventure - Game 38 - Day 2 (May 2, 2019)
A small team of adventurers head out to find the forgotten village of Goldcrest. Unfortunately, the road to the village has been blocked by several land-slides and nobody has cleared the road so our brave adventurers had to leave their vehicles behind and continue the journey on foot. They encountered many zombies along the way and managed to leave the zombies behind by scaling a nearly shear rock wall. Unfortunately, they lost most of their weapons while climbing but they did get away from the zombies and are now entering Goldcrest.

Narrative A platform similar to Medium.
Objective:
Investigate the village to see if you can find any gold and look for clues about why there are so many zombies along the old road. Follow the clues to the next stage (new game board).
Additional twist: Before each player takes their daily turn, roll a D20 to see if you get any bonus. Please note that the bonus must be used during the CURRENT TURN. If you do not specify to which action you wish to apply the bonus, it will be applied to your first action where applicable.

I have a big favour to ask of everyone:
I'm trying to push my promotions page over the hump of critical mass, so have been posting comments on the pages of new Steemians inviting them to promote themselves but I need more action on the promotions page. Would you all be so kind as to put as many links to pages you think are worth promoting in the 'post promotion' category for the next few weeks to start the ball rolling? I really believe Steem could benefit from our own 'classifieds' page and it needs some action to begin with until it gathers enough momentum of its own.

They didn't say specifically... but most of the witnesses outside of the Top 21 aren't profitable at all. With the Steem price as it is, it costs more to run the servers than they're getting paid.
I always assumed that the witnesses outside the top 20 did it as a service and volunteered or donated the service for any of a number of reasons.
Yep, that's my understanding too... but I guess everyone has their limits on how long they're willing to lose money on something for.
That really begs the question about how decentralized Steem really is then. If being a witness is strictly a money-making proposition and only the top 20 make money... need I say more?
Not at all.
I'd say it was very different when Steem was priced a lot higher... the backup witnesses could comfortably maintain their servers. I think that's why we still have over a hundred witnesses... they're mostly just waiting for better days.
