Chun Li - The First Fighting Game Lady

Well, the title says it all...

Well, it is Woman's Day (Although in my time zone, it's about a day ago...), and I am somewhat accustomed to fighting games, especially traditional arcade ones. But Chun Li is easily recognizable even outside of the Street Fighter series. Heck, one might argue that she is some of the most famous female video game character ever.

Well, here's the fanart.

Alright. The steps.

First is the pencilling. Maybe some you guys might see some lines in it which sorta act as drawing guidelines...

Next is the inking. Though I gotta say, every time I do the inking, I'm gonna miss my sketches T_T...

Next is the background. I was thinking of making a somewhat lotus shaped background for her.

Oh boy, where to start with her...

She's one of the first playable female fighting game character and pretty much set ablaze for a lot of female fighters out there. She is undoubtedly some of the most iconic character in the Street Fighter franchise along side many other Street Fighter 2 characters like Ryu and Ken, appearing in a lot of media imaginable. Even those who did not play fighting games will know her very well. Her design is an instant classic overall and still looks unique after many decades. There are many things to like about her, such as her sense of justice being an Interpol agent, her athleticism, her unique look and appeal and so on.

Gameplay wise, she's the precursor for fast fighters but weak normals (a bit odd, I know). That remains as her playstyle, since most of her special moves are charge motion (example, you hold down for 1 second and then hold up to perform her Spinning Bird Kick). Of course one of her iconic move is the Lighning Kick (Hyakuretsukyaku) in which you tap her kick button repeatedly. This changes however in her Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike, where some of her motion are replaced with half circle forward(hcf) and quarter circle forward (qcf) special moves which makes her moves a bit easier to perform. Plus her normals are so good and solid that she is considered a top tier in 3rd Strike. (if you are in to fighting game tier list) This playstyle benefits her the most when used in games like Street Fighter X Tekken and recently, Street Fighter 5.

Anyway, enough about me nerding out about fighting game stuff. And this is actually the first time I actually drew her like ever XD! Enjoy!
