Wednesday Walk - Snail Art
Autumn Snails
I took these photographs with @tattoodjay's weekly 'Wednesday Walk' challenge in mind and then never got around to posting them. Better late than never I suppose and it's good to be reminded of warmer days in this dank, dark winter period.
The idea of the challenge is to get out for a short walk and get some shots of what you can see, within a short distance of your home, office or wherever you start.
For more information see his latest Wednesday Walk post where he offers some guidelines.
A couple of months ago the streets of Brighton and Hove became a hunting ground for a fun art installation featuring 50 giant snail sculptures.
They were commissioned from local artists in aid of the Martlets Hospice and were a follow up to Snowdogs by the Sea which I wrote about last year.
At the beginning of December all the snails were auctioned off in aid of the charity raising more than £230,000.
It was great fun wandering around Brighton and Hove and discovering new snails every day.
I have many more photographs, of course - although I didn't see all 50 - but I will save them for another day. 😁

Oooh, that silver one is pretty cool. The mosiac tile one is, too, but that first one is a little strange. I'm not sure about snail-flavored ice cream. Not that I'm opposed to new flavors and all, but that might be a hard sell.
Awesome sculptures. So cute and charming. My favourite is the second one, the bluey with the footprints. Very cool, Gillian! 😄
Yeah. They were really fun @trinscowski The blue one with the footprints was the first one I saw. 😁
It was called 'Emily's Journey' I think. 😊
I love when cities do art exhibits like these and what a cool idea colorful snails i love them
Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk !tip
Thanks for the tip @tattoodjay.
It looks like this might become an annual thing which would be great. Last year it was dogs and this year snails.
Most welcome and thats cool that is may be and lets hope it is an Annual thing
Hey, good to see you there. I've been missing your posts lately.
Fun collection of photos. I love public art installations.
Aw. That's nice to hear. thank you @indigoocean.
I'd forgotten just how much time it takes to post and reply and check my feed etc.
I've got so much on in my personal life I'm not sure if I can manage this too. It just seems such a waste to let it slip though, after all the hard work I put in. 😁
I had a dream the other night you may find interesting. (About to post more about it actually.) The basic message was that I was underestimating the value of the crypto market and would regret it.
Though it was a different aspect from time investment, I think it is the same idea. If we can swing it, earning whatever crypto we can now could mean a huge difference in our future.
For example, though I've lost a staggering amount of money on STEEM, at current prices I still own 2 BTC worth of STEEM. If BTC goes to $100k (which I think is very likely someday), that's $200,000. And if BTC someday goes to $1 Million, which some very knowledgeable people have forecast, that's $2 Million!
So if investing a couple hours a day into creating and curating content would earn you $2 Million over the next 5 years, would that seem worthwhile to you?
Whatever number of hours would be a yes, get yourself down to investing only that number of hours.
Well that would be a big, fat "yes" of course. 😂
I've been thinking along similar lines (although nowhere near as big) which is why I posted 2 days in a row after a more than week break.
I've noticed that more people are upvoting the posts and some with bigger votes. I'm not sure if that's because I've increased my Steem Power and/or because people have fewer posts to upvote these days.
Anyway. Thanks for the food for thought. Definitely something to mull over.
The first one is so funny, looks like sugar glasing. My favorite is the third one, so colorful and beautiful.
I think the first one is supposed to look like an ice cream @erikah. 😂
I haven't posted my favourite one yet . . .
Wow, so you say there's more to come? Feel free to tag me :) Looking forward to it!
I will try and remember to tag you @erikah. Thank you for your enthusiasm! 😍
