Tree Tuesday - Handkerchief Tree
Handkerchief Tree at Cliveden house
This Handkerchief tree (Davidia involucrata) is, apparently, the favourite tree of many of the volunteers who work at the National Trust property of Cliveden House.
I understand why because, when I saw it, it made me stop dead in my tracks and take notice, as well as the odd photograph, of course. 😁

The handkerchief tree is native to central China and grows at a moderately fast rate, reaching about 20-25 m in height.

The tree is best known for its flowers which form a tight cluster and is known as the Handkerchief tree for obvious reasons, i.e. because the white bracts look like folded handkerchiefs around the flower heads.

Cool pictures and tree! I always like seeing unusual trees and flowers. This one is a new one on me.
Yeah. It was a first for me too @steven-patrick. It was quite striking in real life even though it wasn't particularly big. 😊
Wow, such a beautiful tree @gillianpearce! I've never seen it before in my life :) Thanks for sharing.
Thank you @lynnecoyle1. It was the first time I'd seen it too. 😊
Amazing post @gillianpearce. I aslo can see why they love this tree. It's really charming and these pics you took have grabbed its essence.
Thank you for visiting and leaving a comment @felobtc. Glad you liked the tree too. 😊
That's good news @pixsteemer. Thank you! 😊
