Oregon Coast Postcard Stories

A Note To My Aunty

Those of you that follow my blog will know that I have a huge desire to sort out my clutter both offline and online but little motivation to do so.

Added to that is the implication of HF21 where authors earnings will be down and I've been thinking about ways to keep myself posting regularly.

In the middle of the night I awoke with an idea to tackle both issues. I have a pile of old postcards that have been lying around for years. Why not start to send them out and tell a little story about them I thought? Oooo yes. And I could use the #lifestyle tag too. 😁

So this is the first postcard.

oregaon coast

I'm sending it to my aunty who is in her 90s and had a fall last week. She loves to receives things in the post so I'll know she'll enjoy it.

As you can see it's of the Oregon Coast.

When my daughter was little I lived in Seattle for a few years and I spent many a happy hour looking at property and land in Oregon. I was dreaming of building a retreat centre and, I remember one piece of land where I fantasised about building little chalets down a very steep slope to the beach.

This was a long time ago, before Portland had been discovered as an "in" place to live, and properties and land were very cheap compared to that around the Seattle area and pennies compared to prices in the UK.

The ideas never came to anything though and we left the States and moved on. You may have to wait for me to find another postcard to learn where to exactly. 😂

If you would like to receive a random postcard, just DM me your address and, you ever know, one might wing it's way to you.😁

I'm also curious about how this will play out. Less incentives will probably mean less posting. Specially from the newbies who already earn so little. ☹️

The advantage of being a newbie though is there is nothing to compare it with so they maybe happier than those already here, especially as payouts have been relatively low for along time now. When I arrived thre was a massive difference in payouts between those who'd been here while and the newbies so the disparities were more obvious.

Maybe we'll all be pleasantly surprised at how much our curation rewards have gone up. Although, that of course will probably make many want to post even less. 😂

A lovely postcard view. It must have been fun dreaming and making plans to build a retreat! !Tip

It was great fun @melinda010100 and a good excuse to explore some beautiful places. Thanks for the tip. 😍

Hey, @gillianpearce.

I, of course, find it extremely appropriate that you would start this post card posting with one of the Oregon Coast. :)

Just got back from a part of it (Toledo, Newport, Lincoln City) about half an hour ago. Kind of cool, then it warmed up a bit.

Tough to find anything cheap on the dollar on the coast, but I would imagine the prices are still way cheaper than Washington, and if you say they were cheaper here than in England, well, that's still the case now.

We've been talking about leaving here and moving somewhere else for years, and still haven't done it. At this rate, we'll end up staying here. It would be nice to have a one story house, though. Don't need to climb the stairs so much. :)
