Well, I guess it depends with me. Walking in darkness is sometimes a good thing. But not without some light. Or else every horror movie I have ever seen comes to haunt me. And I've seen plenty of horror films. :D
About 3 weeks ago, the family and I were stuck walking about 2 miles in the dark.
Our 3 year old, @theharvey, seemed to be scared. I’ve never known him to be afraid of the dark, but we were walking through trees and along a creek.
Just like a scene from a horror film.

That's like every cabin fever movie ever. And the actual Cabin Fever movie. When people start to get weird ideas and they think it's a good thing to go check out things, always alone, one at a time, outside the cabin, in to the dark forest.
You were wise to stick together. You didn't for instance leave your three year old under some weird tree to check out what was the out of this world sound just few trees ahead. One at a time. And everyone would just say: "You guys stick together, I have to go and check this ominous sound, alone. And after I'm gone, someone will have to come and look for me, but again alone. So in the end, our three year old has to save everyone. Are you up to it Harvey?"
