Sndbox Summer Camp Writing - Task 1 - The Beginning of a fiction writer
Hi! I’m Gabrielle, and I have a writing problem, haha. This started a long time ago. I was that kind of girl that liked to read because in my home there wasn’t a television to distract myself with, and reading was my scape, and I love how everything seems to come alive with every line, until it made me disappear from my own reality and puts me in another one.
I was around 8 years old when my school announced the “Reading Olympics”, I was so excited and that was the beginning of one of my passions. I placed between the finalists. Right now, I can’t remember all the books that we read, because I have the memory of a fish. Four years later I discovered the RPG forums (Role Playing Game), where you can create a character related to a specific topic and you manipulate it through writing. This was an amazing experience – although at this point I didn’t posses an acceptable grammar to write with- where I learned many things like redaction and codification. These kinds of forums have been part of my life ever since, for almost 10 years, and that has pushed me to improve my grammar, redaction and creativity.
Through all these years I decided create my own story inspired by a book that I once read, which was my favorite at the time because of the subject, and left an empty in me for the way it ended. I usually tend to read science fiction books and it’s what inspires most of my ideas and where this story leads. Also, I use it as relief and is with this stories and poems that I have been filling my “steemit” these last months, and is where I would like to push myself even more.
Sndbox represents an opportunity for this goal. I would like to learn, grow and improve myself. Read my old writings and compare with the new ones, evaluate them, but I also enjoy the criticism of others, which helps me improve in all aspects. I want a chance to help other writers with my content, to whoever feels the desire to boost them and maybe don’t know how to. As Someone who is starting, who can create contests where I could reward literary talent. Anyways, I want to become in the best version of myself and explore all the ideas that I could have. Because of all these reasons, I would like want to be part of this community.
