On the way to the top
You walk along the edge of the glacier,
A look not taking away from the top.
The mountains are sleeping, breathing in the clouds,
Exhaling avalanches.
But they keep their eyes on you -
If you would be promised peace
Warning every time
Rockfall and grin cracks.
The mountains know - trouble has come to them, -
Smoke tightened passes.
You are not different then
From breaks mountain falls.
