⚽️ Is football just a sporting organization? Or is it also the method of managing crowds? ⚽️

Hi Steemit family!

I hope you have a good Sunday? In Barcelona, it's nice weather so I'm quietly working in the sun. What else?

I mentioned in my previous blog posts that our daily life can be boring and quite stressful. Usually, we can have different choices to get away from this boring life for a while. Some people prefer to go to the bar and drink a few beers, some people go to a concert to listening to music, some people also prefer to go to a football match.

As I mentioned above, we all have different fun insights. But I want to talk about football today. Because, according to other activities, football has the power to gather larger crowds and this is of interest to me. Not only in the stadiums, but also in the face of TV, many people are watching football matches. All of these factors make this sector an important power. People from different parts of this sector gain significant profits. Now I'm going to point out a different point here.

Can football be one of the ways of managing peoples?

You have seen that many politicians follow football matches more closely than other sports organizations. People in the administration of a country want to control the people of the country in the easiest way. Football is one of the easiest methods. Thus, the majority of the people only focus a single point and they don't think another thing. This perspective brings some examples to in my mind from history.

Remember the movie "Gladiator"? This movie that It brings us together with the strongest era of the Roman Empire. However, although the country is the most powerful country of that era, the emperor has difficulty in managing the people. So the emperor decides to organize an event where people can get together and focus on a single point. These organizations called gladiator wars to provide satisfaction to the public.

Yes, football is not as bloody and deadly as the wars of Gladiator in the past. Although I am sometimes indignant at seeing the behavior of some players or supporters in the face of failure. This is one of the sports where we see the most violence from fans.
However, the two organizations have a common side. This is the use of such organizations by states and politicians to manage the public.
There is obviously a gigantic business behind this sport and we buy players as if we were buying stock market shares.

Finally, I have to say that I have criticized different points on the subject mentioned above. But I still love football as a sports organization :)

Personally, as someone who loves his football, I'd say WAR is a much bigger way of 'managing crowds', wouldn't you?

Or you could look at things the correct way. Just as dogs like chasing balls in parks (maybe trying to burst the thing), so do kids. Kids grow up and the game got refined. Bigger and bigger stadia were built. Great competitions were devised. It's an extremely popular sport for a good reason. People love playing the game / loved playing the game / wish they had the talent to have played the game to a certain standard.

The game was hardly devised to enable public disorder to be moved from one place to a preferred location now, was it?

You heard the one about the war that started over a game of football? (El Salvador & Honduras)

Yes you are right too!
No I never heard about this war... 😲

As a crazy football fan I would argue that you are right and wrong at the same time on this topic. I would agree with you that football is the perhaps one the most efficient ways in controlling and managing of the people, but again the same would apply also for the journalism, literature, music industry, cinematography, etc.
There are when football was a tool used for a good cause. I would suggest you to watch any documentary on the Democracia Corinthiana and the legendary Sócrates (the footballer)!

I love football verymuch, and I am one of Barcelona fans. A catalan club..

I share your sentiment about football @flamegirl. It's a beautiful sport and a wonderful distraction at the same time. I find it interesting that masses concern themselves over matches that take place outside of their country as if they were related to the players in the game. Every fan has an opinion about people on the field that are complete strangers, yet the stakes of their subjectivity is so high that they rationalize betting on them😅

I completely agree with you...
And sometimes the stakes are so high that the sport is meaningless I think ... And this is just a business.
Thanks for stopping by!

That's a pretty good point. I've never thought about sports, or any massive event, as a way government bodies could keep some slight control over the people. Maybe that's why they get so much air time, press coverage, and hype?

With everyone focused on this tangible thing, they can be distracted and, therefore, easier to control.

Very fun thought experiment you've brought up. I'm afraid for the next week I'll be looking at a lot of things more skeptical now haha.

You've got yourself a follow, thanks for the thought provoking post :)

Yes, I think that could be a good explanation ...
They try by all means to distract the population and football is a way that works perfectly!

Hahahaha I always find it positive to look at things on a new angle =)

Thanks for your comment my friend! Have a good football match! XD
