Freewrite Day 362 Run for Your Life

Running for your life is not often necessary. You can usually slink off for your life. I can’t run or even walk fast, but I have been in some life-threatening situations. I was a teenaged runaway and had to get out of places a few times.

Running calls attention to you and if a bad guy is after you, this is not your best plan. The safest thing is to wait until the person falls asleep or gets drunk and then you can make your escape quietly and without running.

But what if a flood or fire is coming? Don’t you need to run then? Maybe, but probably not. I have a friend who lived through a flood while eight months pregnant with two little kids as well. She got them all up on the roof and was saved by someone who came to save them in a boat. Her husband was not home at the time and she never let him live that one down.

And in the case of fire, you are supposed to get down on the ground and crawl; not run.

I did once run for about 30 steps to get out of the way of some traffic bearing down on me on a trip to Washington DC. I thought I had an empty street to cross but all of the sudden speeding cars were coming fast. @bxlphabet was with me at that time when I was obese and this was known as “The time my mommy ran.”

My post is for the #freewrite daily challenge by @mariannewest. Freewrite is a great way to post on steemit when you do not think you have the time, or talent, or anything to say. I know you can do this too! Here is Marianne’s freewrite prompt post for today. Give it a try and surprise yourself.

Very inspirational. Thumbs up!☺

Your suggestions are wisdom gained... I can relate to them all. I think the only time I ran for my life was when I ran from my ex-husband.

It's true that most problems like this are with "loved ones" sadly.
