Let It Sink In; It's Okay To Not Understand!

Or at least that's what I tell myself whenever I come in contact with some things I've come to expose myself to that are most times over my head.

Several times over back in high school, I felt the need to dropout of Further Mathematics class but stayed regardless, even though I was far from being the best. Looking back now, it feels like I enjoyed the thrill of trying to get a hang of what the subject was all about over actually succeeding at the subject. The same could be said of my Technical Drawing class and probably school in general. I have also come to notice this in other areas of my life outside of school; the love for the chase/thrill is super evident and more highlighted over the actual action of achieving the goals. It's probably the life of the dreamer; constantly coming up with scenarios and conquests to embark upon. The oil that keeps the creative engine running.

Like majority of the other folks on here, Bitcoin was all I knew about prior to January 2017 but since the discovery of Steemit, my appetite has been wet and I've been on an adventure devouring everything I can on anything blockchain. With the over 1000 coins listed on coinmarketcap, I've barely scratched the surface when it comes to my knowledge of existing crypto. The underlying technology is however not that difficult to grasp on the macro level even though it can be an herculean task trying to explain it to someone else (hello Ibukun).

As a member of one awesome, not-your-regular-crypto community still under development I find myself reading through conversations I can barely contribute to, and concepts I find pretty challenging to grasp. Questions like "how did I find myself in this chaotic bliss?", "What brought me here?", stray into my mind every time I'm faced with these conversations. Wasn't it curiosity that killed the cat? Err... that's more than enough questions for one night. Oh well, there's one more question; should I beat myself for not having anything to contribute?

Although I'll like to know what you think, I have my ideas already! I don't think I should feel bad or get myself beat up over the matter as I am absolutely confident that not everyone that contributes to the techy blockchain talk would have anything to say when it comes to storytelling or just being awesome. Just like the best in Further Mathematics class couldn't compare to me in English or Geography or Biology.

So yeah I've got my strong points and since I've found myself in a new territory, I owe it to myself to learn their language and ways in order to ease my entry into the community. Sometimes I might need to read stuff a million times (like the SMT Whitepaper) before I can grasp anything meaningful, and other times it just comes to me (like the STEEM whitepaper).

Overall, I guess it's okay to not understand, as long as I don't plan on giving up.

Hello @fisteganos

Just like the best in Further Mathematics class couldn't compare to me in English or Geography or Biology.

Just like the baking of bread requires a lot of ingredients to be complete. Everyone has their strenghts and purpose.

Like you I hated Futher Maths, i could never understand its purpose, Maths is hard enough.

My moment of confusion was not In Steemit, but actually how to expalain to people what the Blockchain means an entails. I have found a simple expalnation for tha though.

Just the same way you tear out invoice or your customers and keep your own pink slip, every transaction is recorded in the blockchain and everyone has his or her copy.

When I comes to skill, i believe in being good at one thing then finding out ways to outsource your area of weaknesses.

If you are running a business though, you may need to know a little of everything, in the case of emergencies.

Amazing job @fisteganos Followed...

The technology behind cryptos is sometimes very hard to grasp, you have to read in depth, in order to get a concept of what a particular term is talking about. I too had a hard time getting to understand cryptos, but right now i think i have some ideas about cryptocurrencies, because you can't get to know all with more advancement coming through everyday.
