Steep bank on the Northern Dvina
On many northern rivers, and not only, there are steep high banks, where ancient rocks are exposed.
I have repeatedly told about a unique place called Opoki, where the Sukhona River has the highest and steepest shores in the entire North-Dvina basin.
On the river of the Northern Dvina there are also such shores and one of them will be this post.
Near the village of Zaovrazhye, Kotlas district, the banks of the Northern Dvina River are almost like a sheer wall and very high! And what kinds open from such a height!
Sandbanks, streams and a turn of the river - all this can be seen from this shore.
The opposite shore, the place where there is a salty lake.
The duct. Due to the tall trees you can not see the Votlozma hillfort.
But if you bring it much closer, you can see the church in the village of the Exhibition.
View towards Kotlas on the railway bridge.
Well, the views from above are good, but you need to go down. I found only one place where I can do it. Descent is very extreme. See the rope? It's not so simple here! It is insurance and it is possible to climb it, but I did without it.
Steps are made in the slope and in normal weather in normal shoes one can climb and go down without problems...but it is still very dangerous.
The coast here consists of shallow rocky clay: it is only to poke a finger and immediately everything is showered.
What was further below, I will tell in the next part.
To be continued...
