Writer's Block

I know some of us writers have probably aligned our minds to believe that going for week or months without scribbling down something is the perfect definition of writer's block, at least the English sounds well garnished to describe the situation. The funny thing is that we all know the truth but since we're humans, it feels good twisting the truth to suit the circumstance we face at the moment so we paint this picture of having a writer's block when we refuse to grab our pens and write what the season brings. Well, this is my opinion, though it is not a declaration encrypted somewhere in the writer's constitution but it is born out of experience, a writer can never lack what to write on because life is far too costly to neglect little things. Charles Bukowski said " writing about a writer's block is better than not writing at all". So being a science student in a country like this where science is best taught in its abstraction and physics theories have lured me to believe that one could substitute equations into another even when they don't exist just to get his/her desired equation, to be honest, this piece is born out of my frustration with deriving equations for over two hours. So applying the substitution technique I've been taught for ages which i don't know why, I'd like to put my words into the above quote that "writing about your inability to reach your muse at the moment is better than not writing at all". You can definitely write about those fears hindering you from grabbing your pen, write on how you have become a stranger to your own ink and you'll be amazed someone out there definitely needed a piece like that at that time.

Sometimes your inability to gather meaningful words could result your being burdened with lot of thoughts and there you are trying to force words out of your head especially if you're on a time frame to finish a piece. Forcing your muse tarnishes the whole beauty of writing because one should be able to spot your creativity and knowledge in a given writeup.
I once had a very hectic semester, was battling with stress from school, issues of finance and pressures from home. It pissed me off anytime I went back home tired and exhausted then I will try to construct a reasonable sentence on a book but it just won't come out to my taste. I would write two or three words, wipe the page out of existence claiming it's not perfect enough for my audience to read. It kept happening and I gave myself the claim that I was experiencing writer's block as such I can be excused for not being able to write anything. So I went around with my writer's block rants anytime a friend asked me why he hasn't read anything from me in a while. I felt disturbed one day, summoned my muse, I wrote about my feelings at the moment, how I felt the earth was unfriendly to me and now once in a blue moon, I do scroll down to that piece in my phone's diary and I could sense the emotions that were attached to every word I wrote.
Here's one of the incomplete poems;

The stars are obscured by the cloud
Darkness has stolen the sun ray
       Voices are echoing so loud
I'm still a human trapped in dismay

The moment you let your ink dry up on the grounds of having a writer's block, you cease to have consistency and someone out there who's been inspired by your works is affected to, sometimes they openly ask you, sometimes they don't but it sure creates a vacuum in people's mind.

Now the craziest solution to this misconception which of course you may not like is to keep writing. Don't expect me to say you should take a break because that would be disastrous to your writing stride.
So get off the table, take a walk, grab a life outside, I bet you'll come back with a new perspective entirely beyond the sphere of your imagination. Pen down those senseless and rusty lines, it's what's needed at the moment. Start anywhere, get somewhere, feel the breeze that blows in through your window, admire the beauty of man's imperfection, write for the joy of writing, for the fulfilment that comes with it. Never stop writing because your words live on even when you're gone.

I often experience such head block at times. Thanks for this insight.

Lovely.. Better than not writing at all...
Wierdo equations and all that shii..

Yeah, it's better than not writing at all

@poeticnest would always stress that "When you have nothing to write about, write about having nothing to write about."

All writers can relate to that quote.
Thanks for the post.

Woah! @estherikott, this is a very good post. Writer's block is something our poets do complain of from time to time. @godwine is right. Like you said, it's all about getting to see a new perspective to things.
That's why sometimes we don't ask our Nesters to write. We talk about things. We analyse poems.
It's all about the perspective. Thanks for sharing.

Such perfect advice for the writer! I had hoped to feature this post in my Positive PAL series tomorrow...but being so close to the deadline I don't believe it will make the upvote cutoff! Keep up the great work though...and perhaps you can submit something again! <3

Thank you
You can as well go through this if it fits the criteria
Wouldn't mind a substitution😏
