Maslow's hierarchy of needs teaches us some important things !

in #zappl7 years ago

Many of us want to help others, but we don't help ourselves.
Three years ago I was on the bottom stage and when I saw this, I realized that in order to live a full life, I must help myself first.Think about it! #zappl #life #psychology

Maslow's Law has always been useful for me to know where to focus my energies on - fix the top of pyramid first, and everything else falls in to place below it.🌻

I disagree, you can't fix the top of the pyramid first because you will be to preoccupied with basic necessities. You can't be creative or spontaneous when you don't sleep or eat, you can't have a lack of prejudice if you lack self-esteem and respect for others. And so on... so it's better to start solving the problems from the bottom to the top. That's the whole point of Maslow's hierarchy. Sure you can combine things later when you advance through it, but not at the beginning stages.

I've been thinking about it for some time now and I disagree with a fixed position between love/belonging and esteem. Depending on the person and situation, you can put Esteem before Love/belonging and in my opinion many people who are very ambitiously chasing after a goal do that.

Like I said, I am also combining stuff at the further levels, but never on the first stages two stages. of the pyramid. I think that at later stages you can put something in front of another, but they have to be balanced at some point. I've put esteem in front of love/belonging but I still needed to go back there at some point, because I wasn't feeling so good.

Before we move on to abstract things, we have to fix the physical ones.

As of my experience in life, helping others first as long as you can. It depends on what you have and what could you do to help. But, there was a scenario that I helped someone and left me behind when I needed him. It's a lesson for me and that time, I told myself that I will finish my cooking first before I put on the table for them.

Same answer that I wrote to thidaratapple : "That's because when you help, you are making the assumption that they should help you back when you need it. That's not how it works. You help because you want to, you don't need to expect that the same person will help you back. This is why we are disappointed many times, because we expect something back. Expect something back , but it will be given when you least expect it from another person. I think that's how it works."

Well, I think that's how it used to be. I like your "Help because you want to, Don't need to expect the same person to help you back." 😊

I agree with you, "I must help myself first". Have a great day!

Yeah, you can't help other people if you don't help yourself first. At least for bigger things, for smaller things there always room for helping.

it's better introspection, which helps us ourselves, our enemies ourselves as well.

You are right, the greatest threat to ourselves is us.

They ask for help, you give them. You ask for help, they hide.

That's because when you help, you are making the assumption that they should help you back when you need it. That's not how it works. You help because you want to, you don't need to expect that the same person will help you back. This is why we are disappointed many times, because we expect something back. Expect something back , but it will be given when you least expect it from another person. I think that's how it works.

You gave me a simple idea that I'd never even think of. Thanks for commenting back. I appreciate it very much.
